People don't remember or know how popular Reagan was. He won 49 states. Even in 1980 he won 45. He even won Hawaii.
40 years of mass immigration and demographic shifts and a million other factors though probably won't allow that to ever happen again.
Sadly I think through policy, Trump could have done it. I love Trump but he's too easily attackable with his rhetoric and personality, even if I like it. Reagan was seen as everyones grandfather, and yeah he was called a Nazi like every Republican president, but he wasn't as easily attackable as Trump is. I believe Trump will win, and I pray for a landslide, but its just not likely to have a repeat of a 45+ state victory. I fear that the only possible way we get out of this mess that the country is in not only requires a Trump win, but a Trump landslide.
