They made it to the 78th floor in 40 minutes. Full gear. They were going up when normal people were wanting out. They are true American heroes. Thank you.
As a first responder myself I want to completley agree but theres a reason athletes get paid so much, even if people think it's too much. Arguing that athletes are over paid hinges close to leftist communist territory. The market dictates athlete salaries based off of competition and the value they add in terms of entertainment and money that brings. First responders unfortunately don't bring money in. But we don't do our jobs to earn that amount of money and am satisfied with my pay
Yeah, there are (were?) some great heroic athletes, such as Michael Jordan. (If I'm not mistaken.) Cool dudes who broke their backs to get to where they're at and inspired others to rise with them.
I’m guessing your era, the athlete of today pays a fee to a PR firm to handle it. All he does show up as requested and cut a check for his charitable tax deductibility ............
It wasn't just that they made it to the 78th in 40 minutes. They did it in smoke filled stairwells while knowing fire and destruction was their destination.
NFL players run out of bounds to avoid being hit by a man.
The fire fighters ran towards death to save others, not a man but literal death - flames, destruction.
I didn't appreciate the level of athleticism that takes until I moved into my new apartment building. I'll take the stairs up the 15 floors every now and then, and even that's a workout. I can't imagine 78 floors, in all of that gear, and the circumstances at hand.
Firefighters, cops, combat arms military, they’re all athletes. Just very, very poorly paid in comparison to sportsball athletes. Shows where our priorities are as a society I guess
Also, I’ve heard the terms ‘occupational athletes‘ thrown around for firefighters and cops, and ‘tactical athletes’ for SWAT-type police and combat troops. Regular line infantry work was hard enough for me, but hearing stories of Delta operators climbing/jumping up between the balconies of Iraqi high rises to raid a target is just mind boggling. Same with the firefighters on 9/11. That’s some Olympic-level athleticism right there
Have any improvements been made for high rises in terms of fire safety? Making firefighters climb so many flights of stairs not only means less time to fight the fire as people die, but also they will be completely worn out when getting there.
Or do firefighters still need to climb stairs when going up a tall building to fight a fire? Most buildings disable elevators as soon as there is a fire.
Or write fucking bullshit racial activism slogans on their jerseys. I was out the other day and they had the NBA on TV and holy shit those guys have gone off the real deep end.
I seriously think the only people watching them anymore are restaurants. I can't imagine the mindset of anyone who can sit there and be preached at for 3 hours when they're supposed to be relaxing and enjoying a recreational activity.
I thought MLB was going to be my line in the sand. Loved the MLB for decades going back to my early childhood. Baseball meant everything for me as a kid. So I thought if the SJWs nonsense spilled out from their mouths I might just put up with it for the sake of enjoying my favorite pastime.
Couldn't do it. I watched maybe a week of games this season but the pandering was too much. Then when I thought about how these millionaire athletes jipped their fans out of a full season and a full experience this year just so they could get paid and because they were afraid of a virus that barely even affects the young and the healthy, it just made me angrier. Needless to say I haven't turned on any sporting event in more than a month. And I'm currently stuck in a hotel with limited entertainment options so that's saying a lot, when I wont even put it on as background noise.
Guys and Gals, get a life. Live your life not modeled after some millionaire sport roided up dude. Their PR firm works to make them more "profitable" to marketing and that is all there is to it. Money talks, every thing else can walk. You are your best HERO, be the person YOU want to be. It is not if or whether you fail but what you do after that that sets you apart. Lead, Follow, or get out of the way. WWG1WGA.
So true - was accidentally watching a bit of an NBA game tonight and one of the jerseys said "LOVE US" on the back.....seriously? That was so cringey...
Lol, exactly. And they also don’t bend down and suck Chinese communist dick, like LeBron did over Hong Kong. The Chinese communists could snap their fingers, address LeBron as “boy” and he’d come-a-running, quick as can be!
In Ancient Rome, fullers were held in higher social regard than the athletes. Literal clothes washing guilds were more esteemed within society than athletes because of how essential they were to society. Athletes like today were often slaves or at the same time overpaid freemen.
There is a good reason why actors, jugglers and other entertainers were on the same social level as whores, pimps and slaves since Ancient Rome.
Their job is to do their little song and dance, take their money and fuck off.
No one gives a shit about their opinions on politics or anything else.
Even mingling with entertainers was considered a sign of poor taste and could greatly harm a person's reputation.
Today's society caring about thoughts and ideas of ball kickers, dick suckers and play-pretenders is a very telling sign of it's degradation.
When I was in OSUT, one of my DS was in OSUT with Pat and Kevin. Near the end of the cycle he showed us a few pics of them. Apparently all the stories about Pat being an awesome guy were true. Didn’t let his fame get to his head.
Every Ranger I’ve met who knew Pat/knows his brother Kevin spoke praise of both of them as well. Guy was a true hero.
Doesn't matter. I'm not calling him a hero, just saying that he gave up a career in the NFL to serve. The man could have fallen down the stairs, he still made the decision to join something far more dangerous than the pussies in the NFL.
Fucking thank you. Anyone who listens to these bimbos who’s only accomplishment is surviving more head trauma than any of us, is a retard. They spent their ENTIRE LIFE playing with a fucking ball and getting hit in the head, how smart can they be?
These are facts. But we don't need to pay the real heroes ridiculous sums. In fact that would be a problem in and of itself. What we need to do is merely elevate them as role models, culturally speaking.
Thanks for sharing that perspective. Perhaps that is a more fair way to look at it. I don't mean to say that people are not worthy of praise because of this or that profession.
What I mean is that people get famous for stupid shit and not for the kind of thing that inspire us to be better.
Sadly, I have no idea who these actors and athletes are you mention. Why? Bc they don't get talked about as much. If they're in the news it's bc they got in trouble or got divorced again.
It's also a problem that we give so much attention to people who really aren't relatable to most people. Firefighters are relatable. You or I could be one. We won't be actors, and we will never Iive that lifestyle. We shouldn't aspire to that lifestyle. We should aspire to make contributions to our community, like firefighters do.
Too many professional athletes are prima donnas with over inflated salaries and egos and under developed minds and sense of patriotism and appreciation.
The only athletes who even approach hero status IMHO are the good moms/dads (e.g. Herschel Walker) and those that stand up to the SJW libshits (e.g. Sam Coonrod).
Yeah maybe because I was listening to the FDNY dispatch audio some Pede shared earlier., exactly my thought. Those guys are not just heros but competent heros. Wicked competent. That is what blows you away. Not just their courage, but their prep and organization. Because they want to win. And really, how much worse would that have been if they weren't so fucking good?
One of the main reasons I got off Sportsball was when i started to fully realize they don't do anything. They don't make anything. They muddy up a field, they stretch out netting, they cause a little wear and tear that needs to be cleaned up. There was no service, no 'thing', no product. They aren't even training themselves up for war since we aren't hurling javelins or cannon balls anymore.
This may sound strange but it would actually make sense to me if the most popular "sports" were things like 'Iron Chef' or instead of curling there were actual hallways and contestants battled to clean them the fastest. I say this because we'd be cheering for 'training' or acts that actually improve society and lead to ... better food, cleaner buildings, whatever but super skills for making or doing real life things and benefits.
*yes i do get the idea of entertainment value - distractions. the men's 'soap opera' to escape from life a bit. I don't think these corporate sportsball things are actually that good for escapism but i get that part too
Most athletes are pampered pussys, they can play a game, but most can do nothing beyond. These people are elitist fucking pigs who deserve to be robbed of everything. They are fucking selfish cowards, would never have the balls to put their lives on the line for anyone, or anything.....their no different than hollywood celebrities, it time to take what they have, or at least cause them to go broke
It takes zero courage and zero creativity to become a professional athlete. Now you might have courage and you might have creativity, but you don't need to. Because guess what? The ONLY qualification is that you are really good at sportsball.
And the entire sports world is now worshipping an asshole like Colin Kapernick, ignoring the fault sof Lord Jesus Jacob Blake, running on and on and on about race race race, Bubba Wallace...the end is listless.
I used to be a huge sports fan, i watch zero sports now, fuck these leftist pigs! Let the ratings go down, do not buy any gear, flood the market with fake gear, cut the cables, no TV....if we dont fight we lose, lets take the NBA & NFL down!
Athletes are basically performers who have been given an inflated position of worth and importance as a result of the continued dumbing down of society. Sports stars and Hollywood actors/musicians are not deserving of our time nor admiration.
The only hero I knew to wear a jersey was Pat Tillman. We all need to recognize his true sacrifice. Colin Kaepernick would have you believe he sacrificed something for this nation. Well not him he's a brainless puppet.
Most of them were in just seeing the first tower on fire. They would have heard the second hit. Not even knowing what was going on. Maybe some lower down heard and knew about what it was.
Still, they went in. Still wanted to help and save people.
The word "hero" is just to small a word to use to describe them. No word exists for the courage they had that day.
They made it to the 78th floor in 40 minutes. Full gear. They were going up when normal people were wanting out. They are true American heroes. Thank you.
Lebron James has left the chat
China has left the chat.
China never leaves the chat scared face
RIGHT ON
Only the ones that criticise the real heroes. Just because they're an athlete, shouldn't immediately condemn them
Athletes are overpaid. First responders are underpaid.
As a first responder myself I want to completley agree but theres a reason athletes get paid so much, even if people think it's too much. Arguing that athletes are over paid hinges close to leftist communist territory. Adrenaline is also a hell of a chemical- these guys were redlining their bodies “engine” before even arriving on-scene to this terrifying calamity
As a firefighter, I think about all those stairs in gear/equipment and it seems crazy to think about.
Me too, I do Brushland/Wildland fires, and I can flap all day - I know couldn't this kind of trek. Just amazing.
Have any improvements been made for high rises in terms of fire safety? Making firefighters climb so many flights of stairs not only means less time to fight the fire as people die, but also they will be completely worn out when getting there.
Or do firefighters still need to climb stairs when going up a tall building to fight a fire? Most buildings disable elevators as soon as there is a fire.
the planning and preparedness plans have greatly increased and the construction too probably
There's not much you can do. Stairwells have a minimum width. But at the end of the day you can't rely on elevators or you end up trapped in an oven.
Heroes also don’t paste names of slave-labor companies on everything they wear.
There are people posting on this site that can't get the sports cock out of their mouth.
I thought MLB was going to be my line in the sand. Loved the MLB for decades going back to my early childhood. Baseball meant everything for me as a kid. So I thought if the SJWs nonsense spilled out from their mouths I might just put up with it for the sake of enjoying my favorite pastime.

Yeah right? This. Why do we even talk about it. I fucking hate sports on TV. The only thing I watch is MMA.

Athletes are like clowns..For entertainment purposes only.
In Ancient Rome, fullers were held in higher social regard than the athletes. Literal clothes washing guilds were more esteemed within society than athletes because of how essential they were to society. Athletes like today were often slaves or at the same time overpaid freemen.
Hey I like clowns
honking intensifies
cough Pat Tillman cough

Some athletes are both.
Rest In Peace Cpl. Pat Tillman. Rangers Lead The Way

I heard he was fucking around and his buddy accidentally shot him dead. I'm not happy he fucked up and died but I don't consider that heroic.
Doesn't matter. I'm not calling him a hero, just saying that he gave up a career in the NFL to serve. The man could have fallen down the stairs, he still made the decision to join something far more dangerous than the pussies in the NFL.
More or less dangerous might not be important but I admire him if he did it for the right reasons yes.
Fucking thank you. Anyone who listens to these bimbos who’s only accomplishment is surviving more head trauma than any of us, is a retard. They spent their ENTIRE LIFE playing with a fucking ball and getting hit in the head, how smart can they be?
It's funny watching their cognitive dissonance in real time
They love it and eat up whatever "King" James says, but the second any athlete is revealed to be conservative, they say "he's just a dumb athlete"
To be fair, firefighters are pretty athletic.
They also don't get millions for dribbling a ball.
As a firefighter myself, carrying a highrise pack and 2 spare bottles up 1 flight of stairs would wind a normal person...
I love these heroes so much.
THANK YOU
There is something very wrong with a society whose heroes are celebrity athletes, billionaires, actors, singers, and pundits
Yeah.....about those visits with the kids...
A side effect of capitalism. Money buys respect and no ones going to be shelling out for xtra monie to fire fighters like they do for lebron jerseys
These are facts. But we don't need to pay the real heroes ridiculous sums. In fact that would be a problem in and of itself. What we need to do is merely elevate them as role models, culturally speaking.

Heroes are the ones who wear soot from the fire raining down upon them as they risk their own lives for a stranger.
Poetpede gonna make me cry.

Yep, that's not a job I could do. It's voluntary in most places too i believe.
JJ faggot Watt had the nerve to post a Never Forget the day after he and his team cowered in their locker room
Not enough upvotes can be given.

Athletes are entertainers
Athletes are not heroes simply because they're athletes. And the adoration of sports figures is beyond ridiculous.
Athletes provide little value to society.
Athletes haven't risked their lives since rome.
Agree, they’re fancyboy cowards that do not respect freedom
Well said!!! So true
Just look at WWE. People know that this sport is fake or can be fake. And apply it to other sports.
And the entire sports world is now worshipping an asshole like Colin Kapernick, ignoring the fault sof Lord Jesus Jacob Blake, running on and on and on about race race race, Bubba Wallace...the end is listless.
Gotta be a sick joke.
Patriots don't wear jerseys either. Dump the NFL
LeBum Blames is a bought and paid for Chinese shill, and Roger Goodell is a humongous faggot.
I used to be a huge sports fan, i watch zero sports now, fuck these leftist pigs! Let the ratings go down, do not buy any gear, flood the market with fake gear, cut the cables, no TV....if we dont fight we lose, lets take the NBA & NFL down!
Professional athletes can kiss my ass.
Gone are the days when they were role models, they are just tattoo upholstery now.
Athletes are basically performers who have been given an inflated position of worth and importance as a result of the continued dumbing down of society. Sports stars and Hollywood actors/musicians are not deserving of our time nor admiration.
Thank God for Heroes Proved
These people risked everything. They are true heroes! Where has our culture gone recently?
What about Barry Sanders?
The only hero I knew to wear a jersey was Pat Tillman. We all need to recognize his true sacrifice. Colin Kaepernick would have you believe he sacrificed something for this nation. Well not him he's a brainless puppet.
