If the police knew about this previous incident and it affected their behaviour this time, it is most certainly relevant to the case. And that wouldn't be doing Chauvin any favours, so why the defense tried to introduce it is beyond me.

It’s because it would establish precedent for Fentanyl Floyd’s actions that ultimately caused his death. Not the standard practice of kneeling on the neck when the person is resistant. It wouldn’t necessarily help the prosecution because police don’t typically have time to run a criminal history before detaining a suspect.

I'm not saying "ran a history", I'm saying "knew" - not as an organization, but as individuals, if any of these were involved in the previous incident or talked about it over the lunch room table.
