Who is that douchebag? This sounds like every liberal I talk to, they say.... why are you caught up in the past? If you have any brains, history is important and history repeats itself. And 2001 was 19 years ago! Aren't you the same people concerned about getting reparations for slavery 400 years ago??
People remember and get emotional over 9/11 because its effects are still seen and felt by millions of people to this very day. Would this kid say the same thing to Holocaust survivors? Or war veterans? Or anyone that's suffered a traumatic, life-changing event? Life goes on, but you never forget, same as I'll never forget watching people jump to their deaths on live TV from 90+ floors up to escape the smoke and flames, or the sound of their bodies crashing through the portico.
It's not just about the people who died that day either, but their families and loved ones that had to go on without them, who in many cases would still be together today, not to mention all the first responders and volunteers that died and are still dying from terrible cancers and illnesses that developed from inhalation and exposure to all the toxic chemicals permeating the rubble.
And none of this even begins to touch upon the numerous issues of government surveillance and security that have been enacted as a result, or the never-ending overseas military intervention that's killed thousands of Americans and allies, claimed hundreds of thousands of civilian lives, displaced millions more, and generally caused upheaval throughout the entire Middle Eastern/Northern African region.
I could go on all night, but in the end I would simply challenge this kid to spend an afternoon with a family who lost someone, take a tour of the 9/11 memorial, and walk away with the same disrespect for their memory as he has here.

Fuck, out of the two, I would never guess a girl with dog ears and snout would appear to have more sense.

Raise 'em right, or raise 'em wrong
