Bush didn't destabilize the Middle East. The Middle East had been destabilized and will remain destabilized forever as long as there are countries where Sunnis and Shiites are within the same border or don't co-exist peacefully. The only reason Iraq was remotely stable under Saddam was because he was so ruthless towards the Shiites, and obviously that isn't stable long-term. Iraq is mostly Shiite, but under Saddam, who was Sunni, they ran the Government and treated Shiites brutally. Now, since the country is mostly Shiite, the Shiites win all the Democratic elections and now the Sunnis get completely screwed. The religious dichotomy is what creates the most conflict in the Middle East.

The Middle East was turned into a powder keg after the fall of the Turkish Empire and WWI when the Allied powers divided up and drew the boarders for these new countries.

Bush ignored the 9/11 attack intelligence because he knew it would allow him to start a war in Iraq. He had unfinished business there from his father in the Gulf War, wanted to secure oil, and wanted to feed the military industrial complex money. That's American Imperialism type stuff, but the Middle East was a disaster before the Iraq War.

This guy here gets it. Middle East is a powder keg because of the artificial lines the Allied powers drew with no regard to ethnic or ideological background of the inhabitants of Middle East
