My take: 9/11 spurred a period of intense pro-American patriotism. Corporations are not pushing #neverforget as they once were bc they don’t care about “America” anymore. Patriotism is dirty. And white. So we don’t see the emails messages and commercials anymore. Diversity is in, but not for the sake of uniting America around a common culture. It seeks to divide us into multiple different cultures and erode what founded the country.
