She later received a call from the manager of the park she lived in, and was told her home was gone. Only 5 of 55 homes were left standing. Even her bank burned down. She's 70 years old, and lost everything. She has no idea how her neighbors have fared through it. She slept in her car in a parking lot in Rogue River, Oregon the first night, and is staying for a while with friends in Eugene. The park she lived in was mostly senior citizens. This is madness.

She hasn't posted anything since her initial post earlier today. She's either using her phone to post, or is using her friend's computer. There are people on Free Republic who are within a couple hours of where she is in Eugene, and are offering her help, and people are trying to find out from her where they can donate money if she needs it. She does have insurance, but having to start all over again from scratch at this age can be devastating. I'm 73, and wouldn't want to have to face that. She's got COPD too. I'm on the other side of the country from her, so all I can offer is prayers and a donation.

I saw the sat images and they said that all this smoke was coming from THOSE fires. Tuesday the smoke got REAL bad and looking to the south the sky was black. The very first time I hear about the Riverside fire was after it got within 15 miles and the small town closest to me got level 3 evac. Seems it's been burning uncontrolled for a month in tinder dry timber choked with underbrush, dead tree etc and never got a fucking mention until the hot E winds blew it up into 40,000 acres, then 112,000 by the next day. They let a small fire burn uncontrolled and didn't say shit. Today they said that they are concentrating on protecting clusters of homes and letting the fire burn because mother nature, the cooler W winds and the CHANCE of showers next week will solve it all for them. The fire is one fucking mile away now. If my house burns I'll sell the land for what I can get and I'm out of this fucking one party commie state.
