May God bless every Catholic.

That said, I find all the golden ornaments, funny hats, jewel encrusted thrones, hierarchy, ceremony and dogma of the Vatican to be a strange distraction from simply having a relationship with Jesus Christ.

I don't understand why we don't simply need an understanding of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and an honest want to form a fellowship with Him.

Priests can be helpful in understanding scripture, but I've never felt they have any legitimate power or authority over us or our soul. The only time I kneel is when I speak to God. If I feel ready to ask for forgiveness then I'll speak to God directly.

I would be happy with a Sunday sermon. I don't need the singing, shaking hands, dancing, chanting, blah blah blah

I think it's important to create a very social environment after the sermon is over, so we can help support each other and make sure our community know that we care for them, but yes. I agree there's no need for a band or dancing or a meal afterwards... although it's nice to chat to other Christians while having a coffee... I don't care if people chant.
