I want a homestead. With pigs, dogs, a couple of goats and chickens. Probably some sheep.

But I can’t imagine raising an animal just to eat it. I’m too emotional for that shit! I still feel guilty as 10 types of fucks for putting my dog down in January 2016. 🥺😭

I think chickens are a good way to break into meat raising. I raise both hens for eggs and Cornish crosses for meat. It was definitely rough putting them out and still is to be completely honest. I just had a cow and a pig done too. It’s definitely a blood pumping experience but it can be normalized even for animal lovers like myself. Fresh meat tastes so much better than store bought and the appreciation is something you can’t replicate. I’m just a city boy from San Diego as well so it can definitely be done.
