My brother-in-law is a retired Marine. He told me the most inaccurate part of the boot camp scenes in that movie was that the junior drill instructors (AKA the War Dogs) weren't the ones chewing out the recruits. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, as the Senior DI, would give a speech like the one in the movie, but the War Dogs would be the ones chewing out individual recruits who screwed up.
If the Senior DI is chewing you out, it means that you really fucked up.
He is absolutely right! I am retired Coast Guard and I remember the same!!! Our lead DI( Called Company Commander in the Cost Guard) was hardly ever seen! Thank him for his service and thank YOU ALL for the sacrifice!!!!!
