Serious thread, hoping for some support I'm honestly in shock and dismay right now. I'm a #WalkAway from late last year, guess just an independent now who plans to vote for Trump.

So, my dad and I are very close, he's 78 and I'm early 40's. He's the person I look up to most in life he's extremely rational, wise, objective (usually). We don't talk politics much, if at all, but I know he isn't a fan of Trump. But, I didn't know he is full on TDS and I don't know how to reconcile that with the man I know as my father.

I guess the exact details don't matter, but basically a conversation about why I don't want to watch the NFL with him this year (due to the politicizing of the NFL) turned into a full-on TDS spergeout from my dad. I can't even believe the shit he was saying, it was quite literally just CNN/MSNBC talking points, many of which have been long since debunked. This was all in response to me not wanting to watch the NFL and in response to my reasons why, where I didn't even mention Trump. But, he blamed it all on Trump. He blamed everything on Trump, the state of the whole country, the unrest, the riots, he threw out Trump kids in cages, Trump racist, Trump muslim ban, all sorts of shit that isn't even true. And I couldn't even reason with him, I couldn't provide any facts in response he wouldn't have it. Trump is an evil, bad, awful, terrible, awful, bad, bad, really bad supervilllain to my dad.

How did he become this? My stepmom watches MSNBC but he told me he doesn't really watch it. How is this smart man so fully manipulated into this shit? How the fuck is this even my dad?

Can anyone relate to this? What do I do? I told him I'm disappointed in him and I've never said that before to him. But I am, I'm so disappointed in him.
