2005: "McCarthy was an authoritarian jerk."

2016: "Maybe he had a point about commies subverting American institutions."

2020: "McCarthy was far too nice. He let them go on living."

Fuck dude. I never imagined in highschool civics class that I'd be one day considering McCarthy a pussy for not going far enough. God the world has changed in 20 years.

86
sgttoporbottoms 86 points ago +86 / -0

Well partly because McCarthy was demonized but the thing is he wasn’t wrong. The book Blacklisted by History sort of lays it out

67
kjj9 67 points ago +67 / -0

If you've seen Yuri describing how marxist indoctrination innoculates people against truth, the McCarthy saga takes on a whole new meaning.

We've known for ~30 years that he was right. Western researchers got access to KGB archives after the fall of the Soviet Union in the early 90s. Those KGB files were corroborated by the Venona intercepts - captured and decrypted communications between soviet agents in the west and their handlers in Russia. And declassified domestic documents confirm both of those, and McCarthy had access to lots of then-classified information.

And to this day, his name is still a curse because most of the country has been poisoned with bullshit spread by exactly the people he was trying to expose. And the truth just bounces off.

Need to meme McCarthy into the ether... the man was a damn hero. If it wasn't for his efforts they may have already succeeded incompletely subverting the United States.

We do have professional athletes overtly displaying their disrespect for our country on national television and millions of people still watch so who knows. Maybe they have succeeded

Did you know that Deep Throat was an FBI agent who set up Nixon?

When I see the WaPo's "legendary reporter" in action, let's just say that it rings differently now. I suspect the FBI is working on setting up Trump again. When Schifty trusts Wray, and the FBI makes a show of taking the knee, you know they can't be up to any good...

1
DONT_reply_with_THIS 1 point ago +1 / -0

I didn't know that. Any book recommendations?

2
Long_time_lurker 2 points ago +2 / -0

On Watergate? I dunno honestly. But they announced that My Friend was code for Mark Felt some years ago:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Felt

Interesting tidbits from there:

Weather Underground investigations

Among the criminal groups that the FBI investigated in the early 1970s was the Weather Underground. Their case was dismissed by the court because it concluded that the FBI had conducted illegal activities, including unauthorized wiretaps, break-ins, and mail interceptions. The lead federal prosecutor on the case, William C. Ibershof, claims that Felt and Attorney General John Mitchell initiated these illegal activities that tainted the investigation.[29]

In the early 1970s Felt had supervised Operation COINTELPRO, initiated by Hoover in the 1950s.

In a phone call on January 30, 1981, Edwin Meese encouraged President Ronald Reagan to issue a pardon. After further encouragement from Felt's former colleagues, President Reagan pardoned Felt and Miller. The pardon was signed on March 26, but due to the assassination attempt on March 30, was not announced to the public until April 15, 1981.[76][77][78]

In his 2012 book Leak: Why Mark Felt Became Deep Throat, Max Holland argued that Felt leaked the information in an attempt to become head of the FBI. Holland said that Felt wanted to create the perception that Gray "could not control the FBI". This could result in Nixon's firing Gray, leaving Felt as the obvious choice to run the agency. Holland said this plan (if it was one) backfired as Nixon and his team found out that Felt was the leaker.[110]

I read that book...

McCarthy was right as rain - should have 'arrested' a few of them - and slowly arrested more and more.... let the 'momentum build' - let the crimes come out - every so many months....

That could have at least saved Hollywood for a few more generations.

Trump has a much more personal connection to the people than Nixon did. Nixon was very reserved and formal, while Trump is gregarious and talks like a working man. Hence Trump's supporters stayed with him when the media came for him, while Nixon's support faded. Well that and Trump didn't panic into making several really bad decisions like Nixon did.

So, it turns out that the Spanish Inquistion gets a bad rap too. It had some unpleasant parts to be sure, but it was certainly not the unrestrained reign of terror it is popularly assumed to be today.

Islamic wars of expansion had taken Spain and it took 500 years to push them back out. (Columbus's voyage in 1492 was financed by the crown in celebration of the completion of reconquesta.) Rather than put everyone to the sword, muslims and jews were offered the choice to convert or leave. Lots of them tried to do fake conversions where they'd publicly claim to be Christians, while remaining practicing jews or muslims at home.

The main thrust of the spanish inquisition was to root out these false conversions. In the end, the Spanish had better luck promoting swine as a national industry and pork as a national cuisine. It turns out that it is really hard to pass on a pig-fearing religion to your kids when they see you working with and eating pigs every day, even if you've convinced yourself that you are only doing it under duress.

Fucking A right man. My brother and I were never really political and now we don't understand the world we live in. 20 years ago we were watching Jackass and Bam Magera. Now we're under attack by communists. WTF happened?! The Inquisition was brutal, but something like that is what we need.

3
TheTrooper424 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yeah, wtf happened to all of the anti-authority skater crowd (used to be one)? They all turned into a bunch of faggots. Now all we have is antifa losers. Conservatism is the new counter culture.

4
crash7863 4 points ago +4 / -0

Fucking Obama. He signaled to everyone that the government was evil for racial and trans bullshit issues. Antifa is basically rioting for no fucking reason as well. They are at this point 1-800-Dial-A-Riot.

That bullshit carried over to the Trump years. I don't fucking trust younger skaters. When they want to be rebellious and shit. I look at them like they swallowed the blue pill.

For the most part I know I can trust most motor heads. Some kid wants to rip with his dirtbike, I know he's going to be based. Shit has fucking changed and it's not for the fucking better.

It's not even liberal bullshit anymore. It's communist bullshit. All of the tree huggers from days past are full blown commies now. The traditional "liberals" appear to be full on commies now. Fuck me.

1
TheTrooper424 1 point ago +1 / -0

Tru dat on the dirt bike kids. The dirt bike/skater kids tended to overlap in my area (WV) so I'd definitely revise my statement to make sure that box is checked too.

Fuck inner city skater commie losers.

3
crash7863 3 points ago +3 / -0

Dude, my brother and I drove out to a town SW of Jackson Hole, WY last weekend. All of our more liberal "skater" friends moved there from Mound, MN. The guys that were raised by liberal parents are now as or more conservative than my brother and I. We all had dirt bikes, we all had sleds. Those skaters got a double dose of reality though.

For the millenials that grew up in the suburbs with boomer parents. A shit ton of us turned ultra conservative. More so than our own parents. I can't speak for all millenials as the ones raised in cities are basically scum. It's a start though.

That's like saying a corpse changed into a skeleton. The world didn't change; it progressed to the next stage of liberalism.

5
crash7863 5 points ago +5 / -0

It didn't though. It's just the big cities that want the bizarre weird shit. Small town America is basically the same it's always been. The only major change is queers can get "married".

We're living through the death of an empire. Unless Trump can change the tide, America is going to break up.

2
MechaCornpop 2 points ago +3 / -1

I hope Trump breaks up America. Does anyone think we can legitimately share a system with actual pedophiles?

2
crash7863 2 points ago +4 / -2

Oh gosh. The American experiment wouldn't break up along ideological lines. Our ideologies tell us that pedophilia is wrong. Basically, Christians want to kill pedophiles.

If America splits, it's going to become multiple ethnostates. This would keep with other empires breaking up over the last several thousand years. Think of Eastern Europe. That's what the US would become with a break up.

For everyone involved, it's best for everyone if we stay together and focus on 1 Christian ideology. Christianity tells us to be all be 1 people. It works under a large government power. However, during a split up, all the different races would go after each other to solve centuries old feuds.

Not good for anyone involved.

5
kjj9 5 points ago +5 / -0

If we cannot reassert a single dominant culture, we will break up. There has never been a multicultural state for long. Successful multiracial states have been exceedingly rare in history, but not entirely nonexistant. America prior to approximately 1980 (lagged from the 1965 immigration treason) probably had more success than any of the others in that department.

5
crash7863 5 points ago +5 / -0

Multiculturalism is a fucking myth. That's it. No big secret. It's made up.

That's really not true. Lots of people are very mature well before 18. And lots of people are incredibly immature at 55.

4

You're thinking of people you know. I'm saying in general. It is a FACT that young men are stupid. When I was a young man, I was stupid. The majority of all men were stupid when they were young men. It's through experience of the years that we become wise.

2
Italians_Invented_2A 2 points ago +2 / -0

When I was 18 I was pretty much a commie, BUT: in the sense of a strong government that regulates the economy for the benefits of the people.

This at least doesn't have bad intentions.

But now we have white 18 years old support a black supremacist movement and white genocide. How the hell can someone support a party that hates you because of your race?

You're still stupid. You're pretending that individuals aren't factual

Individuals do, in fact, exist. If you wanted your statement to resemble reality you would have to add qualifiers; trends or percentages would be useful to you as modifiers. Failure to include them is just a stupid mistake. Without them your claim is wrong, and indefensible

7

You're absolutely right. One thing I've noticed is that a lot of older pedes in their 40s or older don't seem to have quite a grasp on how bad things have gotten. Not saying they're totally ignorant or out of touch of course, they know things are bad. But there is still this perception that there are these fabled pockets of highly conservative, traditional, religious, etc ladies in small towns or little southern private colleges, or at churches in Oklahoma and such. These older pedes knew that big state colleges or cities were cesspools of leftism in the late 90s or early 00s but there were pockets of traditional America that hadn't been infected yet and you could still find a lot of great conservative traditional women if you knew where to look. They don't know that this has changed in the past 20 years, even more so in the past 4 or 5. Even those little pockets in rural Oklahoma or Iowa are almost entirely gone now. It really has gotten that bad. If you got married in 2003 or something, you wouldn't have a reason to know this, but those of you thinking there is still some mythical land of traditional conservative women out there just waiting to be tapped by conservative men who know where to look, unfortunately the Leftist mindvirus has infected even those places.

I see this argument, even for myself. I became libertarian/conservative pretty early, voted trump in 2016 at 18. Yet I think there's a good argument to add more requirements for voting. Age being the worse and employment/taxes being better. I was working at 15 though so that also makes a huge difference. Probably some deep psychological reason for the conservative liberal split.

3
Art-Vandelay41 3 points ago +3 / -0

Even more so if you haven't experienced the larceny of property taxes.

5
CuomoisaMassMurderer 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yeah, property taxes and/ or income taxes should be a requirement for voting. I'd like to test basic knowledge of any candidate voted for too

1
TheOneWhoKnocks 1 point ago +1 / -0

Fck that. Property taxes should be abolished in this country. What do you really own, if the government can charge you rent indefinitely, and seize your "property" if you don't pay?

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

Ok that's an interesting point too. Property tax is Constitutional, income tax is not, except for time of war. Some States make it almost impossible to lose your property for failure to pay property tax. Others seize it quickly, or at least put it up for auction.

1
TheOneWhoKnocks 1 point ago +1 / -0

Property tax is Constitutional, income tax is not, except for time of war.

Eh? Income tax is now Constitutional due to a constitutional amendment. The 16th to be precise. It is abhorrent to a free society, but our "greatest Generation" passed it.

Property tax, on the other hand, is a state thing, particularly because the US Constitution doesn't forbid the states from imposing it.

2
CuomoisaMassMurderer 2 points ago +2 / -0

Are you sure the 16th actually passed, as in followed due process to actually pass?

10
Crockett 10 points ago +14 / -4

I dream of a world where in order to vote you must meet one of these criteria:

  • You have or had a child. (Disqualified if you relinquished custody, or they were taken away. Must be biological child or adopted no later than 2 years old).
  • You own real estate in this country (Must be ready for business or residential use, not just an empty square foot of dirt)
  • You own a business (With a total revenue that exceeds X% of your annual personal income, to prevent people from just making dummy corporations for this purpose. 20% stake minimum)

Meeting just one of these ought to be stupid easy for any normal productive person. They just insure that you have some skin in the game for the future health of society. You can still be a childless renting wage-slave if you want, but you don't get to be treated like a full citizen.

1
Thrasymachus 1 point ago +1 / -0

With so many layers of economic value being created in our modern service and information economy, the base notion of value-creation through land ownership can be argued as largely obsolete. On the other hand, the notion of investment in the future of the country as a function of geographical permanence is not obsolete, so you could go either way.

But regardless of where one stands on land-ownership as a requirement, I'm with you entirely that net positive financial contribution should be a 100% requirement. The phrase "two wolves and a sheep voting on dinner" comes to mind.

1
Shalomtoyou 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's what I thought too. In ancient Israel, to serve in the Sanhedrin you had to be a father. Didn't matter how wise you were if you were childless.

So it sounds good on that level. Children mature you.

But yeah, we'd get overwhelmed by the welfare queens and single mothers.

I would agree to that, but with the caveat that if you have enlisted (not officers, OCS candidates, etc) in the military, you can vote once you've actually sworn the oath. You would lose this if you receive a premature discharge other than Honorable, though you get put back into the "can vote if otherwise eligible and once you've paid taxes" pot.

3
AVeryNakedMan 3 points ago +3 / -0

Thrasymachus 5 points ago +5 / -0

The woman's world is inherently a relative one. It's not who is what, or even has what, but rather who has more, who is more, more powerful, more influential. Women have been swayed more easily than men by a century of leftist propaganda, brainwashing, and now outright gaslighting. As a result, femininity is on the verge of total destruction as younger and younger women are absorbed into the inherently-political drug/club/sex/tattoo subculture miasma.

Objectively, this transition is not just Another Cultural Phase that someone with leftist sympathies (no matter how mild) can just hand-wave away with the usual, oh, everyone says kids are wild compared to their youth, as we see more and more young women permanently destroy their bodies and minds in pursuit of relative status positions of the new degenerate culture Hollywood, ad agencies, record labels, social media and Valley firms, fashion titans, and others have conspired to create.

2

It will consume even those cultures that set it upon the world, as well as those that are happy to see it spread and weaken their enemies (i.e. China), until resisted by some immutable counter-cultural force. Our conservatism has the potential to be that force; if the values we represent are destroyed, however, I don't think any culture in the world, anytime soon, will be able to resist the intellectual virus that Marxist post-modernism represents. I suspect then that even China in short order would begin to suffer a second-order version of "Yuri's Cultural Malady".

tufftoffee 11 points ago +11 / -0

To be fair, when someone doesn't know something most people say to Google it.

What kind of results does Google give someone who searches something? Biased ones that lean hard toward radical leftism.

Even on DuckDuckgo, when I searched a query relating to Net Neutrality for a paper i had to write the other night, I had to scroll through 4 or so pages of dogshit from MSM before I got a result that was against net neutrality (regulations).

5
Rginap 5 points ago +5 / -0

Exactly. I have friends and coworkers who think they’re super knowledgeable about things because they “do their research”. But they’re not even aware that the sources that they’re basing their opinions on are biased and flawed.

2
UpTrump 2 points ago +2 / -0

And then they look at you as a nutcase because "not every source can be compromised"

8
SeeFreeDJ 8 points ago +8 / -0

You also have all the disinformation on your phone or computer. It takes wisdom to cut through al the bullshit, and wisdom typically comes with age and experience.

4
sun_wolf 4 points ago +4 / -0

The left also sells simplistic answers that appeal to young people who only want to skim the surface of politics.

Like the whole Republicans = greedy businessmen trope. It’s a total cartoon explanation, and not even consistent with today’s corporate boardrooms, but there is just enough truth to it to a young person’s naive mind that they may end up buying into that filter for decades.

3
Thrasymachus 3 points ago +3 / -0

The pursuit of truth is thousands of years old, ironically; I have no doubts at all that most prominent ancient thinkers, once they recovered from the shock and novelty of information-age post-modernity, would instantly appreciate the intellectual challenge of mass, instantly-available information, but curated by elites looking specifically to shape discourse--and their prescription would be the very same skepticism and principles of early epistemology they were teaching in the ancient world. With the right approach, even the young can attain this wisdom.

It's shameful how so little education now is centered on teaching children HOW to critically approach and parse the overwhelming body of accumulated human knowledge, but rather, simply memorizing a pointless subset of a subset of it.

4
tufftoffee 4 points ago +4 / -0

No kidding. Once the Baby Boomers pass away who is going to replace them? There aren't enough young people in the blue collar trades or small businesses to keep up, especially not young based people. The boomer generation is so large that it's impossible for just millenials to replace them.

This means that Zoomers needs to put on their big boy pants and we all need to have more kids.

Why does the population have to grow?

2

The economists running the government say that the economy only grows alongside population growth. Of course, if we don't meet our replacement rate of 2.1, they say we need to immigrate.

There are other factors besides the economy, but that's the primary argument in favor of mass immigration

Funny I'm 25 and my first vote was for Trump for President and rand paul for Senate. Guess no one needed my vote

See, this is one of the problems with modern discourse. Someone says, "People under 30 to vote irresponsibly" to which some under-30 person replies "I don't! Therefore what you say isn't true!"

I think if statistics and logic were taught in school, instead of fisting and gender-counting, we would never see this type of argument form anyone other than paid Chinese disinformation specialists.

A core concept that many people these days cannot comprehend is that YOU ARE NOT THE WORLD. YOU ARE JUST SOME FLAILING MTHRFCKR.

1
concealedaces 1 point ago +1 / -0

Never argued statistics. Look at my reply, read it well. I only stated my age, who I voted for, and a joke that my vote wasn't needed. I never made a mention that it was the "norm" or that the person posting was wrong in any way. I made a joke. You made a rant and threw a shitfit. You're the reason why some select people haven't joined our side yet. Have a great night. I'll be strolling into the my polling booth on election day and proudly voting for President Trump. Opinions be Damned!

0
TheOneWhoKnocks 0 points ago +1 / -1

Never argued statistics.

Yes, that was the whole point, buddy. Young people under 30 voting irresponsibly and you being under 30 and not voting irresponsibly can BOTH BE TRUE. My point was that you should recognize that you are a glorious statistical anomaly and not take it personally when someone is saying that the rest of your age bracket is retarded.

Now go forth and do God's work.

The Toba eruption 75K years ago almost made us extinct. I often wonder about the heathen or enlightened civilizations that existed before and after that event. Crazy fornication parties in caves with roaring fires, sacrifices, wacky religions with now lost spiritual awarenesses, long-gone eroded architectural sites, etc.

2
Thrasymachus 2 points ago +2 / -0

Indeed, I imagine there are some truly wild happenings totally lost to time.

We don't even know what happened to the Bronze Age civilizations three thousand years ago ("sea peoples", some earthquakes, and maybe a drought" is a remarkably vague understanding of the collapse of multiple major nations in an entire geographical region), let alone ten thousand years, or thirty thousand years. Yet we know that biologically, a human child from fifty-thousand years ago could be raised today and fit in perfectly, never knowing they actually popped out of a time portal (or, you know, however they got here), so it stands to reason that the events would be remarkably comprehensible to us, with individuals motivated by the same physical, biological, and psychological realities and constraints that we deal with today.

Maybe someday we'll figure out how to extract information from black-holes (or some other high-concept sci-fi rigmarole) and can see it all go down...

To be fair, they are literally burning people alive, beating the elderly, let four 20 yos who gassed some cops (yes, chlorine. That chlorine) off with a slap on the wrist, have our entire country hostage over the flu, arresting people just trying to run a business or fucking paddle alone in the ocean, execute 5 year olds, sexualize 10 year olds, and the list goes on.... And not enough has been done.

And this is just this year.

Journalism after WW2 adopted left wing bias because those jobs were centered in major metropolitan areas. Furthermore in the 60s-70s these jobs started requiring a college background. Democrats even as far back as the 1800s dominated the university system but this became worse in the 20th century since academics do not have to worry about market forces.

That's why mainstream media had a left wing bias even against Ford & Reagan. The increasing education bubble slowly made the bias worse...

But what really turned so many leftists insane was Social Media. The social media algorithms rewarded stories that elicit anger from as many groups as possible. All of a sudden twisting the facts about a white cop killing a black suspect drew in a lot of money so more of these stories came out. By the end of Obama's second term these stories could net $10-25k each.

3

I'll be honest, I believed full heartedly in a communist system from high school through college. Obama was the greatest, Obamacare was a great step forward, Republicans were fools (though that part is still partly true-looking at you, Mittens). Then I hit the real world, paid taxes, Trump started running, he said build a wall and I thought...huh...that makes sense. I never believed in the social justice stuff, either, so it was all the easier for me to come over to MAGA. Now I see how I was a dumb kid, and Trump is the president for the real world, not commie fantasy land, and commies themselves can rot.

7
basedtexapede 7 points ago +7 / -0

That's OK, though I was a Democrat in college in the late 80s, I switched and voted for Ross Perot in 1992, Bob Dole in 1996, then George W. Bush twice, then McCain, then Romney. And then Trump of course.

While I always chose what I thought was the better candidate given the circumstances, the only decision I know was right was the most recent one.

I know my next one will be right too.

Always remember where you and your neighbor place on the Anti-Marxists Scale

  1. Ronald Reagan -> Explain to the Marxists why they are wrong, and use a moderate amount of force to put them down if they start causing civil unrest.

  2. Joseph McCarthy -> Remove Marxists from power and ensure that they never work again.

  3. A. Mitchell Palmer -> Arrest all Marxists and banish them from the country.

  4. Augusto Pinochet -> Kill all the Marxists.

  5. Francisco Franco -> Kill all the Marxists and their moderate/leftist sympathizers.

13

6
TheMutualist 6 points ago +6 / -0

It's definitely rigged. They just underestimated Trump and how many Americans were ready to just vote for an outsider. They assumed a +4 in the aggregate and some voter fraud in Florida and Ohio was enough.

There's international and national poll watchers. Voting machines and tabulation also change state by state. That's why they're pushing for mail in voting. In 2018 the Democrats in the government declared an election emergency and allowed late ballots to come in. Test run.

21
Militiaman 21 points ago +21 / -0

Pinochet was a free-market believer, and hard-core anti-communist. Stories abound of how communists were thrown from helicopters on his order because they sought to subvert and destroy the free market. He stands as one of the few that sought to rout communism at the source. He handled communism in proportion to his idea of what communism could do to his people.

16
VetforTrump 16 points ago +16 / -0

In proportion...they want us dead so its clear what must happen to commies. Sorry, your status as a citizen doesn't help. You are not American if you are commie. You get No status from me at all.

The MAGA movement is neither Republican nor Democrat.

Our approach is to attack the Right by being farther right (anti-degeneracy, pro-nationalist, use of force toward the enemies of the people), and attack the Left by being farther left (the rights of American workers and families over the rights of globocorp).

2
dingdongbob 2 points ago +2 / -0

Now they are everywhere, and literally burning down cities.

Practically from the day Trump won the Republican nomination, crazy people were attacking anybody seen wearing a MAGA hat. Guess what, a lot of independent voters (and probably a lot of wavering on-the-fence liberals tempted to switch parties) saw the crazy and went "nope, fuck that".

Going out and shoveling money doesn’t fix problems (as someone who got grilled here for buying a 2020 car brand fucking new haha 😂). I didn’t even become aware of politics until 2012 when I was 18. I became a huge Ron Paul supporter but then reluctantly voted for Romney because I figured he had a much better understanding of the economy due to his business background. Some black dude at the time actually told me I should vote for Obama because Romney and the Republicans want to take away welfare.

When Trump first announced he was running, I was all like "HA! No way does he win this". Then he started getting delegates in the primary. When he actually WON the Republican nomination, I was impressed.

Then shit got real.

The SAME day he won the nomination, I watched CNN go insane. Then MSNBC. Then others, in twos and threes. I watched almost every major news channel and web site completely abandon journalistic neutrality and go all-in for Hillary Clinton.

Y'all? That scared the living hell outta me. That's how dictatorships get started--when the media become a propaganda machine for one party. In that very moment when the mainstream media literally BECAME "fake news", I went hardcore for Trump. And I'm staying Deplorable for the foreseeable future.
