Thorogoods are where it's at. These are the only ones that lasted at least a year for me when welding in refinery setting. Take it from a fat welder with foot issues. Made in usa, no shilling that I know of.

I always get the 8 inch lace ups. Best supporting boots I have ever had. I also recommend the wedge soles even though they are illegal on some jobs. Wedges are more comfy on gravel and rough terrain.
Take care of them and they’ll last you a lifetime. I wear Red Wings Iron Rangers out on the town and Thorogood moc toes on the job site. MiUSA all the way.
It is why I have always had a soft spot for the Detroit Red Wings hockey team - because of those shoes. There used to be a Red Wings shoe store when I was growing up. They sold the best working shoes and boots around. They would get scuffed the hell up and have pits, marks, etc... but the soles would NEVER leak and they would never fall apart. They would look like absolute hell but they never fell apart.
When they need to be resolved, I may have to look him up!
