I don't even believe he's still in charge over there. I think he sold it for a shit ton with a contractual clause to not disclose whoever is now in control.

In all likelihood it was part of the agreement that he would make public mention of him selling the site.
Either way, he knew what he was doing. He betrayed his 'customers' and willingly allowed an undisclosed buyer to deceive his customers at the worst opportunistic time in American history. He's scum.
He didn't betray anyone. No one was paying to read that site. That was something he built out what started as an email newsletter to friends. Him building that and ultimately selling it for hundreds of milliions of dollars is just about the most American thing he could have done. Good for him.

I used to refresh drudge compulsively. When I left I'd check in weekly. In the last year I have probably visited less than five times. He's lost thousands of pageviews and clicks, just from me.
