Hey, I own a musket, I inherited it. 1853 M1842 Springfield. Last fired in the 70's, gunsmith who looked at it a couple of years ago says I'm good to go if I wanna try it.
My truck has blind spot monitoring, along with lane assist, radar cruise, pre collision system and parking assist. Then there's traction, sway and skid control. I turn all that shit off, it's annoying af, especially the radar cruise. It wouldn't be so bad if people would just drive their vehicle instead of organize shit, play with their phone and fill their vapes.
If you have the mirrors properly set, the blind spot monitoring is useless. Mirrors should be set so that you only see about 1/8 - 1/4 inch of the side of your vehicle covers the inside of the mirror. Set the mirror height as you wish, I set the driver's higher than the passenger, so I can kind of sight the right rear wheel.
If you have traction, stability and skid controls. If it's decent out, turn them off some time. I can pickup 3-4MPG with these off, you don't feel it cruising at 70MPH but the vehicle is always compensating. These systems use the brakes and they do drag down MPG.
