Jeffie boy is right. The death penalty is not a deterrent. It's a PUNISHMENT. A. VERY. WELL. DESERVED. PUNISHMENT. And if you walk up to a police officer and just shoot them in cold blood, whether they die or not? You deserve PUNISHMENT.

He was lost to TDS long ago, and is likely paid to tweet by Winnie the Flu in any event.

Even if it was I don’t care. They could come right out and say, this is revenge, and I wouldn’t give a fuck. Maybe it’s vengeance. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the Inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in The name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of Darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost Children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious Anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee

I've ALWAYS disagreed that Capitol Punishment is not a deterrent. If the Justice is SWIFT and the perps and would-be perps can PLAINLY SEE a cause-effect relationship, i.e. "You murder someone, you die as well, after a fast trial." yes, it's a deterrent.

Most criminals are repeat offenders.

So, when you put a murderer to death? You prevent them from doing it again.

It's not revenge. It's Punishment.

It IS revenge. Institutionalized revenge. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Part of the social contract that any government with the governed, is to enforce society's laws by imposing punishment on those who break them. The type and severity of punishment must be a level that society sees as "justice". Too much or too little and it damages the legitimacy of government in the eyes of the governed.

It has far less to do with deterrence than it does with maintaining the social contract.

When that contract breaks, so does civilized society.

as for "deterrent" or not, that's very irrelevant imo. think about it: jail time isn't a deterrent either for crime, is it?

so, by that same logic we should just eliminate jail time because "muh it's not a deterrent" and people still commit crimes every day. there's literally nothing we can do except allow citizens to shoot criminals dead if they are attempting to commit a person to person or person to property crime of any kind.... and the bleeding hearts obviously don't want that either.

Though I don't have social media, every time I click on a trump tweet from here he is always the first comment. And it's always negative.. to hate our President so much he keeps up with him an awful lot.. if I didn't like someone I definitely would see what they're always up to.. anyways. Why is his reply always the very first one every time? And who the hell is he

It sure in Hell is a deterrent for the person committing the crime. If you are dead, you cant commit it again, Duh.
