The store is where you're most likely to find ammo. Online sales get bought up by bots. Head for the smaller family owned sporting goods shops and dodge the big box Walmarts because that's where every swinging dick is buying bullets.
I actually was able to snag some over last two weeks doing this. Hate using it when it’s so scarce right now but if I don’t learn how to shoot my first gun it’s pretty useless.
we also went to a mom and pop and found out, bc they are one of the oldest gun shops in the area, they are given priority by suppliers so they had WAY more ammo than anywhere else. Plus, they had practice bullets as well as federal premium law enforcement ammo. Definitely recommend the older stores.
Older is very little to a distributor. Volume is. I know, used to be in the industry. If you are less than five years old, yea, probably. But if you have huge volume , it is commission and money...
Every distributor wants you to be exclusive with them. But you can't always, but you usually do deal heavily with one or two. In late January, they want you to put in a huge order for the whole year, month by month. You can cancel off stuff, but that will keep you supplied well when this kind of stuff happens, as those orders are filled first, over someone calling in and asking for stuff.
I've said this before but I'm gonna say it again... especially if your gun is double-strike capable (each squeeze of the trigger releases the firing pin), invest in a laser training bullet. You chamber it like a bullet, and each time the firing pin is released it "shoots" a short laser burst so you can see where your shot would have hit, as well as how good your trigger pull was (round dot good, squiggley line not good). They are available in 9mm, 45ACP, .223/5.56 and several other calibers.
With single action this isn’t useful unless you swap out your trigger. I got a laser SIRT pistol that’s just about the size/weight of my EDC pistol for not too much. It’s a great practice tool!
I have one in 9mm 'cause only my 9mms are double strike capable. It's the "Pink Rhino - 9mm Laser Bullet", currently 'Amazon's choice' for $39.99. There are others for slightly less; just make sure you get a laser trainer and NOT a laser bore sighter, which projects a constant laser beam. Oh and I got spare batteries... still on the first one after months of use, since the laser is only on for about a quarter second per shot.
I also invested in a set of reflective laser targets (shiny micro-beads like on roadsigns) and they are worse than worthless, since they reflect the laser dot. Just a plain paper target on the wall works great.
I like to bring my guns in with the mag still full of my EDC rounds and pop that first mag in of those then switch to range ammo. Once I get out to the car, load back up with real ammo.
Not all of us have the liquid funds to purchase bulk ammo on the drop of a dime. Definitely if planned and accounted for over several months, but not without having prepared for that in a monthly budget
If buying online, you have to check super early and be quick on the purchase. I checked at 4am pacific and was able to get 1200 rounds for 26cents each in 2 separate purchases (1k and 200).
Takes a lot of patience though. I was already waking up 4am for work so it wasn't a big deal for me.
Just like concert ticket bots, they’re automated tools that but mass amounts of supply nearly instantly when it becomes available. Been going on a long time
Happens when anything sees a surge in popularity, “entrepreneurial” people realize they can create a choke point in the industry. So they buy lots of an item and resell.
I’m sure many of the people buying are probably reseller businesses more or less, and they are the ones selling at inflated prices, and scoop up as much inventory they can get from the direct sales/manufacturers/honest resellers.
Ammo only store had 55 boxes of 500 rd 9mm reloads this Friday. All of them sold out in 70 mins.
Cat said they cant get the primer from the manufacturers quick enough to churn out the reloads.
Home defense rds were ample, but expensive. Plenty of other rds to scoop up.
So big take away is, do not get a bunch of guns in one rd as your going to hamper yourself. If ye limit to a few guns (say 5-6,) dont get a couple 9mm guns in various brands, a 9mm carbine, and a 1911 in 9mm.
Ye also heard the pablum, "the smart pragmatic gets 3 of the same. One to practice, one as a main hd, and to replace one of the other two if they were to break."
So what if ye buy 3 guns, and have no fuggin ammo available? Get as many different calibers as possible and pick up reloading as a hobby.
Ammo availability is not really an issue over the long term, which any gun investment should ideally be, IMO. Especially in 9mm, which every ammo manufacturer must produce in order to be eligible to sell to LE and get those juicy government contracts.
I've never even seen 9mm get this scarce before, and hope I won't see it ever again.
Recommending someone go buy a gun due to the caliber of its ammo being available in the short term seems like one of the worst reasons I have ever heard to buy a gun, and that is saying something. I have heard some serious mental gymnastics from my friends looking to justify spending a ridiculous amount of money on a weapon they wanted.
Of course I'd never do such a thing though, nope, not me, no sir.
Maybe my words werent phrased properly. Definitely get a 9mm. My case is get 12 guns, not two or three. Have every angle covered. Even if it takes a few years to amass this amount. Grab a 9mm most def off the bat, but dont make your first 3-4 all the same caliber. By gun 5, sure grab another 9mm if ye desire.
And agree having different calibers is necessary. Proper tool for the proper job.
I hate to be contrarian, but Paul Harrell specifically recommends the first two guns you buy, especially handguns, be in the same caliber, so you can stock a single ammo and use it in all your guns.
For full disclosure, I am a bit of a Paul Harrell fanboy, so take that with a grain of salt. I love his advice and he has taught me a ton, but that's just me. I am no expert that is for sure.
Paul's home defense load-out is a Beretta 92FS and a CX4 Stormrifle (both in 9mm), that usually is all the information people need to know. Which is funny considering some hear that and love it while others hate it.
I hit my local shop about twice a week and can score 9mm and 5.56 at least 1 out of 3 times I go.
They have fucking oodles and oodles of .224 Valkyrie, 6.5 creedmoor and .300 Blackout though. Makes me really consider getting a couple more uppers for the AR lmao
Surprisingly. 38 special has been easily the hardest thing for me to find. Only been able to get steel case the last 4 months
Can confirm. Source -- I sometimes carry a Beretta 92 compact. What they call a "compact" is bigger than some full-sized guns, but it can be done.
Beautiful weapon btw. Solid, reliable, a little chunky and old-fashioned but can be relied upon to get the job done. Rather like its owner, or so I am told... :-)
I'm thinking 800 bucks is a bit too pricey and that if I looked around online I could get one cheaper....BUT.....the shipping and transfer fees can be costly too. I learned that the hard way when I bought my Winchester online.
Just buy it anyway for the one that you carry on your hip when you are potentially going to have to go out with a bang might as well make it with the gun that you wanted.
The Cabela's near me has some, 3 box limit. No 9mm or 5.56. Bass Pro & Academy are completely sold out of everything but odd ball hunting rounds and bird shot.
Local gun stores have marked ammo up 100%. $50 for 20 hollow points, WTF!
I took up reloading a couple of years ago and it is really paying off now. Reloading 9mm used to only save me a few bucks, but saves me a lot more now and I can make the ammo as I need it.
Same here, 300 rounds through a P-01 on Labor Day. That many rounds smoothed the trigger up a little bit, but I’ve found the double action trigger pull to be merely ok. Sights are garbage.
I've only used the double-action feature on the P-01 once or twice - found the trigger travel quite long though fairly smooth. Single action though is short and crisp.... and if I decock with one in the chamber I find it's really just as easy to manually recock the hammer with the thumb. Sights-wise I agree... but I consider it more of a CCW piece at its best at 10-15 yards. The Tac-Sport is a totally different beast (flinch and you'll double-tap).
Do you like striker fired or hammer fired? Do you want a manual safety or a decocker? I like hammer and a decocker, so I’d get the p07. The p09 is full size, if that’s what you’re looking for. Otherwise, get the p10c. CZ are legit and so are their polymer handguns.
My only hammer fired are 1911s and they have amazing triggers. I’m kind of leaning that way but I’ve heard the small slide of the P-07/10 can be hard to manipulate.
Just note, the P-09 is a full size and the P-10c is compact. Do you mean the P-07, the compact brother of the P-09?
The P-10c shoots amazingly fast (quick trigger reset) and is very comfortable to hold if you are not a fan of glock ergos. Same manual of arms as a glock, but more natural aiming (IMO).
The P-07 has the Omega a trigger system which is very good, but you’re getting a fundamentally different experience. Fan of a manual safety? You got! Fan of the trigger decocker? You got it!
I own both striker and hammer fired CZ models and I lean personally towards the hammer fired decocker models for safety while carrying. But, I find the P-10c to be the best shooter of the bunch.
I’m leaning towards the P-07 just bc I dont have hammer fired other than 1911s. I feel like I would enjoy the better trigger of the hammer fired more. I’ve heard the short height of the slide can be an issue with manipulation.
I do like the P-10 ergo looks since I’m not a fan of Glock ergonomics.
Buy both! I believe you will find the P-07 slide to be fairly easy to manipulate. The CZ-75 slide and its metal framed derivatives’ slides that are a bitch.
My local Scheels had 9mm last time I went but no .45. Complete Mongoloids seem to be hoarding .45 ACP despite the fact that almost no handguns hold more than 10 rounds of it, and 10 rounds seems to be the dems magic number for now.
Use Ammo seek. It's an online ammo search that is constantly updating to find the most inexpensive (per bullet) retailers. I just ordered a container of 300 frangible target bullets.
We’ve got a True Value hardware store on the outskirts of town that you wouldn’t know by looking also has a gun shop. They’ve always got ammo at a decent price. Laid in 30k+ rounds of CCI AR-tactical in 22lr when you couldn’t find it a couple years back.
Very good choice. My P10C has been my EDC for about two years now (prior to that was a CZ-75 Compact). You can't go wrong with a CZ. One thing with the P10C - it takes a couple hundred rounds to really get the trigger nicely broken in.
AmmoSeek app my friend!!! Unless you live in a commie state, get ammo shipped right to your door. Some stores will ship to an FFL if you live in a commie state.
Czech it out :)
Ayyyyy lmao

Next time, be sure to tape your serial number before snapping a picture.
Never know who is looking at your shit online.
I've said this before but I'm gonna say it again... especially if your gun is double-strike capable (each squeeze of the trigger releases the firing pin), invest in a laser training bullet. Yeah i'm not gonna be able to use 1200 rounds in self defense so i'm gonna use them to practice. Just keep like 50 hollows ready.
Yes. This. Practice practice practice. Keep them bloomers for the mostly peaceful home invaders.
Still it's not a bad idea to shoot a mag of PP rounds at the range every once in a while.
I like to bring my guns in with the mag still full of my EDC rounds and pop that first mag in of those then switch to range ammo. Once I get out to the car, load back up with real ammo.
You need to know your gun will feed them at a minimum.
And they get you by only permitting you to buy one or two cases.
I was able to get 1000 rounds 9mm for 26 cents/round online recently. Beat out the bots lol
If you're willing to buy 1,000 rounds there is still FMJ ammo out there.
Don't expect to find it at a quarter a round like this chucklehead though. :)
What's the point of buying ammo if you aren't buying 1,000 at a time
Not all of us have the liquid funds to purchase bulk ammo on the drop of a dime. Definitely if planned and accounted for over several months, but not without having prepared for that in a monthly budget
Yea I was slightly tongue in cheek especially since I can't comfortably afford 1,000 rounds right now myself lol
I would think by Spring 21' 9mm will be back to normal supply and under 25 cents a round.
Solid point
If buying online, you have to check super early and be quick on the purchase. I checked at 4am pacific and was able to get 1200 rounds for 26cents each in 2 separate purchases (1k and 200).
Takes a lot of patience though. I was already waking up 4am for work so it wasn't a big deal for me.
I already get up at 4am eastern so this is doable.
Ammoseek?
Thanks for the 411 my friend.
Yes ammoseek is the only way I've been able to order online.
Just remember:
Be patient, refresh often, and check constantly.
I'm jelly. Going to get my wife a G43 soon and she's going to need some shooting time.
Just like concert ticket bots, they’re automated tools that but mass amounts of supply nearly instantly when it becomes available. Been going on a long time

Same reason Paul Harrell has the Cx4 carbine and 92FS, interchangeable mags.
If you are going for a basic self defense load-out you can't go wrong with the choices you made.
Two great weapons. The Berettas are too, but bang for your buck, I couldn't agree with you more.
Maybe my words werent phrased properly. Definitely get a 9mm. My case is get 12 guns, not two or three. Have every angle covered. Even if it takes a few years to amass this amount. Just don't buy a 9mm 1911 period, .38 super is far superior if you want a small bore 1911.
It's underpowered if you're buying factory .38 super, but it gets PISSIN' HOT if you reload for it.

I was able to buy 1200 rounds 9mm online, you just have to refresh often and purchase quick.
What site should I check and refresh? Ammoseek?
Yep. Best source I’ve found.
Also big fan of SGAmmo. They’re from OK and had my 1,000 rounds of 5.56 to me in 3 days from ordering. Reasonable S&H too.
Being from OK, I always try to buy from SGAmmo when I can. They generally have good prices and I like supporting local businesses when possible.
Reason number 1776 why I love you guys and this site. Been so frustrating to get ammo, hadn’t heard of this site. Thanks fellas!
I got my 1200 on ammoseek. Search early like 7am eastern or even earlier if you can and refresh constantly. That's how I got mine on.
But keep in mind you'll have to do this daily and it takes a ton of patience.
Welcome to the P-10C club, brother!
.Win is the only community where beginners get a CZ as their first : )
My first was an XD
Mine's a :P
Mine was a : (
Ditto, XD-40.
Reliable
I’d do it, but it’d be entirely the fault of Gunsmith Cats.
That said, I’m helping the family too much during this tough time to do so :V
Three is a 9MM Beretta that I have my eye on. 800 dollars. But God, is it a biggin'. No way I could conceal that bad boy.
Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Anything is concealable if you want it to be. Gotta dress around the gun for sure in those situations
Anything.... is .... concealable...
Name checks out
She just didn't dress around the gun very well!
Prison Purse
Or Zap Carry
Can confirm. Source -- I sometimes carry a Beretta 92 compact. What they call a "compact" is bigger than some full-sized guns, but it can be done.
Beautiful weapon btw. Solid, reliable, a little chunky and old-fashioned but can be relied upon to get the job done. Rather like its owner, or so I am told... :-)
OP, what model are you looking at?
Absolutely!
I lost it when he pulled out the shotgun.
Lol I know right!!
Yup, I carry a full size double stack in cooler months. Otherwise, a compact single stack for my jorts. Lol!
Said every woman ever.
There are compact variants Barrett’s makes, probably a nice little surplus one on Classic Firearms
I'm thinking 800 bucks is a bit too pricey and that if I looked around online I could get one cheaper....BUT.....the shipping and transfer fees can be costly too. I learned that the hard way when I bought my Winchester online.
I just spent an ungodly amount of money for my first 9mm but its better to have it and not need it, than to have nothing
Yes.
Px4 storm?
I don't think so, the one I am eyeing is way bigger.
You’re probably looking at an M9A3 at that price.
Ive only seen 850. If you can find it at 800 let me know.
Cx4 storm rifle?
Just buy it anyway for the one that you carry on your hip when you are potentially going to have to go out with a bang might as well make it with the gun that you wanted.
So weird. Why is it cheaper to shoot .45 ACP JHP than 9mm ball?
Can you still find .45 ammo?
The Cabela's near me has some, 3 box limit. No 9mm or 5.56. Bass Pro & Academy are completely sold out of everything but odd ball hunting rounds and bird shot.
Local gun stores have marked ammo up 100%. $50 for 20 hollow points, WTF!
Fucking ammo is twice the price right now ☹️☹️
I took up reloading a couple of years ago and it is really paying off now. Reloading 9mm used to only save me a few bucks, but saves me a lot more now and I can make the ammo as I need it.
Just put a box each through my P-01 and 75 Tac Sport... feels good, man :)

I agree the Tac Sport is beautiful and any CZ match gun is amazing to shoot.
Praise Jesus! Stay Protected! Congrats on your first purchase if you find some 9mm online please let me know :-)
.45 acp braahh
CZ is the bee's knees, congrats fren!
My next gun is either this or a P-09. Any opinions?
Do you like striker fired or hammer fired? Do you want a manual safety or a decocker? I like hammer and a decocker, so I’d get the p07. The p09 is full size, if that’s what you’re looking for. Otherwise, get the p10c. CZ are legit and so are their polymer handguns.

I do like the P-10 ergo looks since I’m not a fan of Glock ergonomics.
Buy both! I believe you will find the P-07 slide to be fairly easy to manipulate. The CZ-75 slide and its metal framed derivatives’ slides that are a bitch.
I can’t argue with that logic
some of the pedes have advised in the past to hide the serial numbers of the guns when you post its pics.
Pucker up buttercup
We’ve got a True Value hardware store on the outskirts of town that you wouldn’t know by looking also has a gun shop. They’ve always got ammo at a decent price. Laid in 30k+ rounds of CCI AR-tactical in 22lr when you couldn’t find it a couple years back.
I wanna get one of these after I grt my 92x. Is this the optics ready version?
Very good choice. My P10C has been my EDC for about two years now (prior to that was a CZ-75 Compact). You can't go wrong with a CZ. One thing with the P10C - it takes a couple hundred rounds to really get the trigger nicely broken in.
Congrats! Now learn to reload
My favorite striker fire compact
Nice choice.
Whoya gonna shoot?
AmmoSeek app my friend!!! Unless you live in a commie state, get ammo shipped right to your door. Some stores will ship to an FFL if you live in a commie state.
came here to post I've been able to get ammo on the federal website, checked the website first. Nope. all 9 mm out of stock.
Just one?
yeah, try to find local first.. you might get lucky.
online is horrible!
Americans using metric system for ammunition.
CZ - nicely done.
I almost got that same gun but there was a ... Paperwork mixup. Luckily I'll be posting my 1st gunday next week.
CZs are dumb popular these days
Ayyyy, I carry the exact same gun. Great choice, Pede.
Ammunition Depot will get it to you in about 2 weeks by UPS.
Best of luck

75 cents a round for 9 Mike Mike! Use it sparingly.
how do you like this pistol? I was thinking to expand my arsenal with it. Did you take this baby for a ride? Any tips? Pros/Cons?
The trigger and grip angle are superb. I think this is a no brainer purchase.
Laughing that you think you will find 9mm in the store
Depends which store, shop local, fuck the commies
Should have gone with a 10mm
Why?
