That's something I have never understood with a 556. Recoil mitigation with a muzzle device is odd. If your rifle is set up correctly, there is no need to reduce recoil, flip, rise, etc at the muzzle. Good barrels with properly sized gas ports and or adjustable gas blocks on the correct buffer really nullify the need for a muzzle device.

I get it with a .308 though.

haha I know 556 recoil is light, but I'm going to put one on my next rifle just to see how much lighter it makes it. Plus I like the way it looks.
