We just went through Laura. We just got power back 2 days ago. I pray you fare better than me. My home and office are both a total loss. Now staying in a shitty apartment. sad Pede noises (Thanks Laura, you fucking bitch!)
Hope it stays small and moves fast! I live in Lake Charles and its been a media blackout over here. Looks like a bomb went off everywhere. Everyone is running a generator and boiling water if they even have running water. A lot of homes are not livable. I just got power last night. 18 days without power on top of 101F
Same boat here in Sulphur. Got power 2 days ago, water today. Itโs rough as fuck. House and office totaled to the max. Hope yโall are doing ok. Shoot me a dm if I can help yโall with anything. Take care Pede. Weโll make it, together.
Hopefully it doesn't strengthen past Category 1. A Category 1 does minimal damage. I rode out a Category 1 typhoon in Taiwan 30 years ago, and the electricity stayed on the whole time. My family and I just passed the time by watching some movies with Chinese subtitles that we rented from the nearby video store the day before (Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Scrooged, The Naked Gun). After the typhoon, we saw some trees and light poles down, some broken windows, and some trash on the streets, but no real structural damage anywhere. The most impressive thing I saw was during the typhoon, when the wind pushed an empty dumpster down the street below the apartment where my family and I lived.
It's when a hurricane strengthens to Category 2 or higher that the serious shit begins to happen. Category 2 begins at 96 MPH, which, at that point, is essentially 100 MPH, and some poorly-built or poorly-anchored structures begin to suffer real damage. Hopefully it doesn't get too bad. The typhoon I experienced maxed out at 90 MPH just prior to landfall.
Yeah, I have had same type of experience while experiencing an hurricane, so I know exactly what you are talking about. I am hoping for the best. Thanks for reaching out.๐
Where is your father buried at? What cemetery? My father is buried in Honaker's Cemetery. Then I also have 3 grand parents buried at the S.E. National Veteran's cemetery.
Half the models are showing it never getting to Cat 1 and if it does being only a cat one for little more than 12 hours. It's amazing how accurate the forecasting has become. You can never downplay these things, but this late in the hurricane season it's not going to gain that much strength that quickly and at the time of posting the storm is still only a tropical storm.
We are in the path too, hopefully will just be a rain event but in case it's more than that we have plans to get the heck out. We live on the water so we always keep close eye on these things. Just had high tide and I would guess was around 2' higher than normal. Still voting for Trump!
Please live stream yourself tied to a tree in your front yard, wearing your best Trump garb, an American flag as a cape, holding an AR in each hand, blasting into the air screaming "Fuck you Sally! I'm still voting Trump!!!".
Thank you for your support. It really means a lot to me and my family.

Make sure y'all sign the recall petition if you hadn't. I'm right here with you, literally.

Ha! I haven't heard that one yet. Did you know he was named for Confederate General John Bel Hood?
https://www.history.com/topics/american-civil-war/john-b-hood
That's cool, I didn't know he lived in New Orleans after the war.
I've never heard that.
Dat's some good phrasing, right there.

In Florida a Cat 1 is called an afternoon thunderstorm
Gotta watch those Category 1's, though. Long ago, we were expecting a Category 1 landfall, but overnight it strengthened to a Category 3.
We were without power for two weeks.

I live in Slidell. So, um why did you leave?
I lost my job when 9/11 hit and I couldnโt find any work so I had to leave to support my family.
