You think so? Germany has this deeply-ingrained cultural aversion to anything resembling conquering shit. They've been told going on century that their people were oppressors and "never again".
Not really. They've just been doing it through diplomacy this time and getting the French involved. Between the two of them, they basically own and run the EU and frankly, the UK didn't pull the eject handle a second too soon.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I've known and liked German people but just look at the anti-liberty laws they keep passing. It's like overbearing government is a compulsion for them.

Note the contempt and hatred oozing from her fangs as she condemns him for saying the UK loves Europe, but hates the EU. The German elite are all-in on this conquest-by-globalism concept, the destruction of independence and individual rights.

The number of Jews in Europe has plunged catastrophically in the past decades, vegetarianism is incredibly popular there and even pushed by the governments, they're all socialists who hate America and freedom, and Germany runs the whole continent.

I read recently that a special ops unit in Germany had to be disbanded because of "far-right" (i.e. not liberal) ideology spreading there. From what I read, the unit actually sounds badass.
