Not really. They've just been doing it through diplomacy this time and getting the French involved. Between the two of them, they basically own and run the EU and frankly, the UK didn't pull the eject handle a second too soon.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I've known and liked German people but just look at the anti-liberty laws they keep passing. It's like overbearing government is a compulsion for them.

The German people are pretty great one-on-one, but their government (& government education) has cucked them. They're a gaping, dripping maw of conquest-by-globalism now and it's disgusting to see.
