The debates shouldn’t have commercials no matter who airs them, fuck put them on CSPAN and have two moderators, a federal judge appointed by Obama, and a Federal judge appointed by Trump.
The debates in 2016 were sponsored by Facebook and moderated by Anderson Cooper... so if your concern is the candidates being fed the questions in advance that’s already a fucking problem but it’s one sided. “rules for thee but not for me”
In a 3 hour debate, I want to see only 5 ad breaks, 1 at the bookends, and 3 to break up major debate topic switches. (like switching from foreign to domestic issues). I expect 8 minutes of introduction bullshit, 2 minutes of closing remarks from the moderator (reminding us of when the next debate is, stay tuned for discussion, and the election date), and like 20 minutes for ads so we have appx 2:30 hours of debate in a 3 hour TV slot.
It also would be nice if most of the ads were apolitical or if they are political, give equal time between the two sides
Edit: 2 judges? So I guess Gorsuch and Sotomayer since they each got higher vote totals than Kagan and Kavanaugh
I'd love to see just one debate with no moderators. Coin flip to see who gets to lead off, then let the candidates do the rest. If someone talks too much or goes off topic, let the viewers make their own judgement. Let public opinion of the candidate be the moderator that keeps them in line.

I give absolutely no shits about decorum so long as the government is effective at protecting our rights. That's their entire job. If decorum is sometimes deemed necessary to reach that end goal, so be it, but decorum is not in and of itself an end goal.
