The trick is to realize that the left were retards all along, and just went full retard recently. I too was quite leftist 4 years ago and had zero sense of the concepts of Individualism and Free Market Capitalism. I was also quite hostile towards Christianity. I reject my previous beliefs almost entirely now (except my distrust for the mainstream media), and I recognized that I was brainwashed. And the greatest influence on me were probably movies.

I hear you. I see a sickness of the mind - something I didn’t think I’d see, perhaps something I thought was of the past. I never envisaged this many brainwashed people so certain of their points of view. There’s a disgusting lack of humility involved.

I’m not religious, but I have humility because, I believe, I have very good understanding of Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Geology and Biology, and am absolutely Awed by it all and love it all, but for those who aren’t awed by anything (because they don’t study the hard sciences, and who have no religious backup), I suppose Life has no meaning. I think Nietzsche saw this coming. (And so did Jordan Peterson and Brett and Eric Weinstein.)

We could probably do with a little Jordan Peterson commentary about now. Would be interesting at least.

To each their own, but I think these animals have appropriated the term "left." literally any other time in history I would be a leftist. We can disagree and have a discussion, but I will never stoop down to insanity like this bullcrap we see today.

I always will be more conservative in social issues, but I will always be a little more liberal in economic stances. My values have never changed, but today's "left" is now unrecognizable.

Well freedom is considered liberal. The same with free markets. However once we’ve found something thats useful, wanting it to stay the same is called conservative. True liberals are probably libertarian, but turning political correctness into a riotous religion with laws and gatherings is now just as big government as what they accused conservatives of all along. We may eventually have to choose between old school christian nationalism or tranny, antiwhite socialism.

So much of my ‘political awakening’ comes from political correctness. It’s so damn boring.

Christian Democracy sounds sweet to me

I assume you don't mean "liberal" in the literal sense, right? You mean anti-liberty. ;)

Just imagine a pro life and pro 2a, and more socially conservative version of Bernie. That’s the kind of statistical anomaly I am (;

That sounds like someone actually interested in helping other people to me, so no wonder you're over here :)

I think families should be left alone too - it’s hard enough as it is. Some of the programs about sex and gender floating around the education system are...odd, to be kind.

I tend to agree

I've always been pretty distrustful of Christianity for some reason, but less now than before. I'm still not onboard with it, but I have a more favorable opinion on it than before.

Which ones?

Star Trek is possibly the biggest example. I like science fiction. But it's more than just that - it's also about the great sum of storytelling and the actors in various movies and series. For today's movies it's quite obvious, but back then it was more subtle.

In Stargate for example you had several Chinese related appearances, all of which were weirdly positive. The only government that had issues with keeping the Stargate secret was the Chinese one - they were oh-so obliged to be transparent - which is a ridiculous contrast to the truth. Then there was that Chinese goa'uld lord who was the most helpful to the good guys. There were other parts where they were portrayed positively.

What was also quite prevalent was the generally positive depiction of governments and the negative depiction of corporations & business. And the Noble Savage trope among many others - including injecting feminism in form of weirdly strong and competent women into a lot of positions.

All of that had the purpose of propagating their leftist ideologies in a more or less subtle way. Today I recognize it easily, back then I didn't think about it.

I hear you. A couple of years back, they had a transgender woman named Catherine McGregor doing stints I the commentary box during the biggest home cricket matches of the year. I mean, Catherine’s got a brain, clearly. But it was so manufactured - I was like, ‘why the fuck am I constantly hearing from a transgender army officer during the Boxing Day Test? What’s the fg score again?’

More specific?

Long_time_lurker 3 points ago +3 / -0

I think they're asking which movies influenced you back then.

There's been a lot of propaganda in media before, but it used to be more subtle.

Ok that will take me some time to think of.

The complete lack of quality of movies was more mystifying at first. Then demoralising. Like Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. Or the first Transformer movie. Wtf happened to the Terminator franchise? Were they joking with the Star Wars prequels? How was it possible to spend that money on such pieces of crap? I smelt a rat.

It is a drip-drip-drip from every direction. Death by 1,000 cuts. A massively funded agenda to destroy western civilization to put the NWO in place.

Yes, and I was born just in time to both be affected by it and have my mind changed - possibly even saved.
