I am 26, it took me 24 years to figure out that agencies like the CIA do a ton of bad stuff. Why did I not know this? Why did it take me investigating on my own? Was i just brainwashed by all the movies, etc?

In about 10 years you'll realize that most people in power do 'bad' stuff. They figure out that most people are morons and will fall for pretty words.
World is mostly an evil place due to human nature. We in the western world have been trying to overwrite human nature (with systems and laws) to create a functional society. Those overwrites are being destroyed one by one.
That's a pretty perfect description.
