Every time I watch a movie now about the CIA (where they are portrayed as cool/good guys) I cant help but think it was made just to brainwash me. Crazy or true?

I am 26, it took me 24 years to figure out that agencies like the CIA do a ton of bad stuff. Why did I not know this? Why did it take me investigating on my own? Was i just brainwashed by all the movies, etc?

True, my grandpa was in the FBI. I dont know what he saw that bothered him, but something bothered him enough to leave.
