Not even just average, they are significantly below average. Only 8% of land area has burned compared to typical years. https://cwfis.cfs.nrcan.gc.ca/report

Meanwhile, the US is at 2,010,948 ha burned, most in the past couple weeks. For perspective, that gender reveal party only burned 5500 hectors, or about 0.27% of the total land area - and THAT's the story the media keeps pushing. What about the other 99.73%?

You don't understand, when the gender is revealed as "it" using purple there is no story. Unfortunately there have been a few hundred IT reveal party's in the last few weeks.

Better hurry up and raise the carbon tax to stop it! What percent of my pay check do you think will make a difference? 80%? 90%? Hell, just take all of it. Who cares if I'm poor, at least I won't burn to death in 2022 like the CBC says!
