I support your idea for Trump to remove marijuana from Schedule 1. However, I don't agree with your comparison of marijuana to cigarettes. Marijuana is more like alcohol in that it is mind altering while you are under its influence.
I would not trust someone operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of marijuana, but they can go ahead and smoke cigarettes for all I care.
Nicotine is mind altering in the sense that it causes dependence and addiction. So while not necessarily "under the influence" as usually considered, there is a broad definition of what would be considered mind altering, and nicotine could fit that description. Just fyi
