The NFL used to push the United Way hard.

Agreed. Even if all you care about is the charities and not corruption, they dont do a good job with that either.

My work does a donation to united way through our paychecks unless we opt out. They come in yearly to give us a guilt trip "what about the childrens" type speech. We looked up news articles and tried to find evidence of the stories they told and couldnt find any. Good possibility it was made up to make us feel emotional and donate.

A non profit charity should not be paying a ceo 1 million. They are in our work right now trying go get people go donate from their paychecks. They have management supporting them. I am a capitalist but if you are a charity you are not entitled to the same benifits

Years ago I worked for a company that encouraged us to donate to United Way. I never did. When I donate it is to small local charities. The money stays in my community and is manned by volunteers. No big CEO paychecks.

Just find your local United Way Branch, ask them about their partner agencies, and then donate to the one that you support. I agree the United Way Worldwide is a buncha BS, but the local branches (some much more than others) do a lot for your local community.

It’s not a one size fits all unfortunately.
