People who were getting ready to look for their new jobs, whether freshly of age kids or people who were coasting along as long as possible before deciding that enough was enough and they needed to get a job.

Both of these people got fucked, since jobs are going to be rough for a while in some states as positions are flooded with possible workers, and I would imagine quite a few positions will be more limited than before during recovery from all the shutdowns due to the financial burden placed on a lot of businesses.

You would think but the momentum is extreme and the stickiness of unemployment is ugly. No one wants to go off unemployment where I'm at so jobs are desperate to hire. 20%+ of Americans on unemployment are making more than double on unemployment what they were earning while working.

Before Trump lowered the unemployment benefits, people were going to be making so much money per hour.

Apparently Whitmer matched in Michigan to get it back up through state funds, which is better than federal.

However, it's still going to be hard to withdraw. Easier to give than take away.

I just did some flying, and honestly 50%+ of the people on my flights were flying on unemployment money.

The lady next to me confirmed it with a phone call saying she was only flying back home because they had suspended her benefits card for swiping too much out of state. She was flying back to mail some stuff, get eligible again then go back on vacation.

I don't think people understand what it looks like when poor people are suddenly rich for literally doing nothing.

They know it has to come to an end, i expect some fuss, but I am absolutely certain they won't have any savings when this is done.

I have some extended friends who are all service industry yahoos who all rented a mansion together to live in. They got thousands and thousands of stimulus and they partied on drugs and alcohol hard for a straight month.

And they're not eligible for unemployment, since they weren't working when the shutdowns started. The only help they've gotten was the first "stimulus check". And despite both parties saying they supported a second "stimulus check", it never happened because they couldn't agree on anything else, and it's looking like it won't happen at all, at least before the election.

To be honest, if the Democrats are more concerned with unrelated pork I'd rather no stimulus.

Money to tax payers = not bad, because it can keep some businesses afloat, not least notably the food industry.

Money to tax payers and then all the pork for 1.5x to 2x the amount? Not really bueno. I'm glad the Republicans seem to hold firm at their number

They're not concerned with unrelated pork. They know the Rs will never approve the pork. The Ds don't want a stimulus bill, they want the economy to tank, and Americans to starve so they can blame it on Trump and have their media lap dogs repeat it ad nauseum. Fucking traitorous scum.
