If you've never read the real Conan stories by Robert E Howard you are missing some of the best literature available. Conan character was very based. The subsequent stories of movie fame were all written by authors other than Howard and have nothing to do with the original character of Conan. Although I still enjoy watching the Conan movie from the 80's with Arnold. One of my favorites is Beyond the Black River.

I heard some of this, maybe back in the 80s (?), but I was preoccupied with non-fiction priorities. Maybe one day I can crack open Beyond the Black River, thanks for the point-out.

They are short stories and novellas. Released in pulp fiction magazines from back then. They have been compiled into three books you can buy and you can get the audio version narrated by Todd McLaren. The books are: The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian, The Conquering Sword of Conan ,The Bloody Crown of Conan.
