I was a much bigger NCAA football fan than NFL. Even NCAA is getting cucked now unfortunately

NCAA is straight up slavery.

Eh, hard sell on that argument. Yes, the schools make billions and the athlete is unpaid, but in exchange they are given all-paid access to a university. It is up to the players how they use their time on campus. Many earn degrees and even graduate early. For the rest, it's either a stepping stone to the pros - for which they will be handsomely compensated, or they didn't belong there in the first place. Entrance requirements for Division 1 sports are ridiculously low, hence many athletes were never college material on their own merits with the exception of their athletic ability. They will mostly fill lower end jobs after college, a lot of them never getting a four-year degree. But they can't blame society for a lack of educational opportunity and potential to make more of themselves than would be expected otherwise.

So you are saying that them getting housing and meal plans to perform a job isn't like slavery because massah will allow them to read and write?

Not allowed to have a job or get money anywhere else other than from family. Really sucks when the dining halls are closed!

Don't worry, they are only generating revenue in the 10s of millions at all of the flagship football schools which comes out to billions for the NCAA who colluded with the NFL to make it nigh impossible to get to the NFL without playing for the NCAA first.

Broke your leg kid? Sorry, your scholarship is revoked now that you actually need us for education.

I forgot how slaves could go "You know what? This job is a total ripoff" and then just stop doing it. Stop comparing things that are entirely optional to slavery, if playing football is not worth your time or effort because you aren't being compensated don't play.

I will have somewhere around 120-150k in student debt for four years because of the cost of college today. These student athletes will have no such debt and have the chance to go pro and earn thousands, possibly millions, more than I can only dream of making. All because they got some good genes (and practiced and perfected a skill, of course, but genetics plays a large role in it and is more difficult to make up in sports). Good luck selling the idea that they should be paid for representing their school on the field. Because guess who is gonna be paying them, me and my peers with our student loans only making college more expensive for the middle class. They complain about reparations, as far as I'm concerned they already get more than enough in today's world between all the handouts they get.
