They can go to hell. I can keep the vehicles I have running until I'm not around anymore. Not buying into this electric crap until and unless the infrastructure is totally upgraded and we're running on Thorium or other advanced nuclear reactors. A pox on rolling blackouts!

I'm a big fan of electric. I can charge my car on my own from a solar panel or panels. No oil, no intervention in the Middle East no 'refinery fires' that seem to happen when prices are low. Your only cost of driving then is tires, insurance, and registration. (Although they're trying to increase registration for Electrics now)

Yes, Thorium / nuclear power would be nice, but it'll be a long time before I can have my own reactor. I can generate power now. A neighbor has a 50kW system. That's more than enough to run anything, but you don't even need that much of a system by a long shot.

Try taking a trip thru Canada and up the Alaska Hiway to AK in an electric vehicle. You better be towing a Honda EU2200i because if you're gonna sit on the side of a deserted hiway waiting for solar to recharge your batteries, you're gonna get stomped by a moose or eaten by a grizzly bear!

There can be 200-300 miles or more between any kind of major town, and it's a crap shoot whether or not they have high-voltage charging facilities. How long does it take for your electric to recharge off a 120-VAC charger?

Electric has it uses around major cities where chargers are readily available but they're not gonna cut in in the outskirts.

You may have a good setup to generate "green" energy but at a pretty high cost I expect, and not everyone can afford that. Here in W. Wa solar will NEVER be able to practicably replace hydro or natural gas, we don't get enough sun for that and don't even get me started on how "dirty" the process of manufacturing and recycling solar cells is. Same thing for windmills, the "payback" is a scam and what do you do with the huge GRP structure and blades when their useful life is done? They're not recyclable at all. Grind 'em up, break 'em up and bury them.

Anyway, rant over, sounds like you have a good situation going, more power to ya (no pun intended!).
