Well, we did about 44 years ago or so. They painted the Southern Pacific 4449 in red, white, and blue for the bicentennial and it toured the country. There's still pictures online. The best part? The train is owned by the city of Portland! I'd feel some measure of satisfaction to see it appropriated for the campaign.
