The parents and teachers and doctors in these kids' lives who helped them down the path to this should be punished severely.
It's not a surgery, it's a butchering. Then their body tries to heal up the hole that's not supposed to freaking be there in the first place, so they have to stretch the wound apart by "dilation" in order to prevent it from healing, which tears the scabs apart and causes it to bleed again, so that they get the result they think they want. Then it causes excruciating pain because their body wasn't designed to do that and people wonder why they kill themselves.
