My take on this is that it's making fun of the parents who can't tell their son has mental issues, and instead encourage them, as clearly the father is out of touch so much so that he doesn't notice his kid killed himself.
It doesn't mock the trans kid, but it also points out an uncomfortable truth of the 41% suicide rate. It's shocking, but I think that's the point because nobody wants to talk about it. I didn't see it as supporting suicide in any way.
