I had a biologist explain it to me once. Animals that are true herbivores have much thicker enamel on their teeth. Eating plants means eating dirt and the extra enamel is there so that the dirt doesn't damage their teeth. Humans do not have that extra enamel. Humans also have canines, which are shaped differently for the specific purpose of eating meat. Your body wasn't designed to exist on plants alone.

Gorillas eat plants and have massive canines.
