I remember looking into this several years ago when Saudi Arabia first got a spot. If I remember correctly these councils are rotating, and there is a policy where everyone is supposed to get a turn to be on various councils. Eventually you’re going to get a terrible group like this under that policy, but I’d say they’re all on it now because people kept pushing it off and saving them for last.

That being said, the UN is garbage and an insult to general human decency and diplomacy. Must be some crazy mental gymnastics going on to be able to take themselves seriously.
