I'd guess many were abused/groomed/preyed upon by older men themselves when they were younger and just continue the cycle of abusing/grooming/preying on young boys. That and/or their are just evil pieces of shit.
I wish I could find it, may have been scrubbed, but there was a study done that dealt with adult homosexual males and homosexual females and the rates at which they were sexually abused as children or young adults were straggling higher than heterosexual males and females.
