Granted the DNC sets the rules but Kamala received less than 1% support and dropped out before the first debate. Why would they choose her for the main candidate?

Probably because of her history with law enforcement and a strong pivot to a topic she can speak to. Regardless if shes right or not she maybe be able to build a platform on it. That + TDS
