This happened in Detroit with a man named Malic Green. Within about 48 hours after his death more than 15 people filed wrongful death suits. The trial was over in a matter of days with an award of 5M dollars. When the judge asked how they came up with the number, the lawyers couldn’t justify their fees, so the judge held the settlement, it’s probably still on hold, until the lawyers had earned their fees.... :) there’s always a way (some of these facts may be wrong, it’s how I remember the case being told to me. The sentiment of the case is clear. Not always do defendants get those awards)
