Probably the Louisiana ATC. The ATF does not control liquor licenses.

There is a recall underway. But its hard to find out where to sign.

But as a Louisiana resident, here's hoping it works!

This site is relatively extensive in its directions. Everyone can apparently join in and help collect signatures.

Unconstitutional

-14
Bandido -14 points ago +4 / -18

It is constitutional, the bar owner applied and excepted the license (privilege) to sell liquor.

14
Shhhhhut_the_hell_up 14 points ago +14 / -0

"Accepted."

Might want to use correct words otherwise you're opinion is easy to invalidate.

8
Bramble 8 points ago +8 / -0

It's unconstitutional to require a license to sell anything, change my mind.

Oi, got a loicense for that freedom, guv'nor?

4
jgardner 4 points ago +4 / -0

State's rights.

Take it up with your state government.

I suggest reminding them where rights come from

3
ModernKnight 3 points ago +3 / -0

Well, it depends on if liquer licenses are in the LA State constitution. Powers not explicitly given to the feds go to the states, and if the state constitutions don't explicitly give those powers to the state they are reserved by the people.

5
jgardner 5 points ago +5 / -0

Rights come from God, not constititions. If the government doesn't protect rights, alter or abolish accordingly

3
ModernKnight 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yes. All rights are god-given and inherent to the people. My post is not about rights. It's about how our specific government, at least according to the constitution, attains their powers. The people give certain powers to the Federal Government via the constitution. The powers are limited to what is explicitly given by the constitution. The only "living document" arguments which are valid are formal amendments to the constitution, thus most of what the federal government does is invalid. Furthermore, anything the state governments do is only valid if the state constitution specifically allows that use of power.

Bandido 1 point ago +1 / -0

Please show where that is stated in the US Constitution. Or in the Louisiana Constitution.

1
Bandido 1 point ago +1 / -0

I would not disagree with that at all, however I commented before if one accept a license of any type, legally a license is a privilege, not a right. I got a JD License to “practice” law and then learned about the privilege & surrender the license which is not required.

Here’s a link to an article-the owner announced his intentions on the news last night:

They have been having trouble making required payments on rent, utilities and other fees for the bar, even though they remain closed.

Does this reporter not understand that rent and utilities don't stop being owed even though the business isn't allowed to open?

J-School Major. Possibly the dumbest people on earth. They live in this magical fantasy world with no understanding of real life.

I worked with one once. Entire building lost power. They were had no idea why the coffee maker didn't work but the hallway lights and phones did. Had to explain that those are life safety (need to see to exit in a emergency and need to be able to call 911) so have backups, the coffee machine doesn't.

I’ll start my own bar. In my house. With hookers and blackjack!

If you live in Louisiana (as I do), sign the re-call petition. John Bel Edwards is a Marxist. In Mandeville there will be a signing party on the lake front on Saturday 9am to noon at the gazebo. See y'all there.

So don't open. Have a party in the parking lot. Don't charge for drinks, have a donation/tip jar for drinks. Don't need a license if you aren't selling anything, just like you don't need a license to toss your buddy a beer at a cookout.

traveravis 6 points ago +6 / -0

Hope he opens again tomorrow

BasteSpuds 5 points ago +5 / -0

Let's face it. The ATF is the federal equivalent of the Fun Patrol. Uh oh, looks like someone's enjoying themselves. "I'm on it, Karen!"

4
hiddenpede 4 points ago +4 / -0

The BATFEWTFBBQA needs to go already. They're a holdover from the prohibition era which was instigated by Democrats and Karen's. Between the DHS, DEA, FBI, IRS and the CBP they're also arguably redundant

Twice. The whole state voted for the Republican but the one big city we have cancelled that out. So whatever new Orleans votes for we get

So, LA needs to get back to its historical roots. The Cajun Navy can go back to ensuring the people have enough booze. Make Bootlegging Great Again! Also, Wow, been seeing a lot of deleted comments in threads recently. People on here getting a little too fired up, or are there more glowies and shills hitting us now?
