It doesn't matter if the awareness is of self. Being self-aware is just a subset of being aware.

And just because "truly spiritually enlightened masters" who do no evil are "the most self aware people on earth" doesn't mean that they do no evil because they are self-aware.

The most evil people on earth are by definition entirely self-aware. They are self-aware of their evil and wish to continue doing evil because evil is their goal.

The Devil is not a naive being doing what he does out of misguided good intentions.
