Call 911 as well, immediately. Then there is record that you asked for defense from law enforcement in an emergency situation.

The GP article says they were out there for hours, and when the police arrived, they arrested the homeowner. WTF? Have a mob show up at your house at night, shine lights, probably tresspass and shout at the guy through a bullhorn?

Where were the cops when these assholes were disturbing the peace, menacing, and probably some other crimes? No where. Oh, the homeowner, probably scared shitless, displays a shotgun to address the disparity of force, and the police arrest the homeowner.

WTF? What can you do about that? No neighbors came to his aid. No police came to his aid.

18 U.S. Code § 241.Conspiracy against rights

https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/241

If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same;

If two or more persons go in disguise on the highway, or on the premises of another, with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege so secured—

They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.

They intimidated him for expressing his support for Trump. They violated his first amendment rights. He also has the right to Bear Arms, which he did. The also intimidated him for freely exercising that right.

So why was he arrested?

Bonus: If they're from out of state, they could also be charged with:

18 U.S. Code § 2261A.Stalking

Whoever— (1)travels in interstate or foreign commerce [...] with the intent to kill, injure, harass, intimidate, or place under surveillance with intent to kill, injure, harass, or intimidate another person, and in the course of, or as a result of, such travel or presence engages in conduct that— (A)places that person in reasonable fear of the death of, or serious bodily injury to— (i)that person; (ii)an immediate family member (as defined in section 115) of that person; (iii)a spouse or intimate partner of that person; or (iv)the pet, service animal, emotional support animal, or horse of that person; or (B)causes, attempts to cause, or would be reasonably expected to cause substantial emotional distress to a person described in clause (i), (ii), or (iii) of subparagraph (A); or [...]

I'm sure there's similar state laws as well...

Throw the damn book at these people already!

The law only works if it is enforced. There are federal laws against harboring illegal aliens yet we have sanctuary cities and states that do just that and no one has been arrested or prosecuted. WHY?

Title 8 §1324. Bringing in and harboring certain aliens.

(a) Criminal penalties.

(1)(A) Any person who-

(i) knowing that a person is an alien, brings to or attempts to bring to the United States in any manner whatsoever such person at a place other than a designated port of entry or place other than as designated by the Commissioner, regardless of whether such alien has received prior official authorization to come to, enter, or reside in the United States and regardless of any future official action which may be taken with respect to such alien;

(ii) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, transports, or moves or attempts to transport or move such alien within the United States by means of transportation or otherwise, in furtherance of such violation of law;

(iii) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation;

(iv) encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law; or.

(v)(I) engages in any conspiracy to commit any of the preceding acts, or.

(II) aids or abets the commission of any of the preceding acts,

shall be punished as provided in subparagraph (B).

(B) A person who violates subparagraph (A) shall, for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs- (i) in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(i) or (v)(I) or in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(ii), (iii), or (iv) in which the offense was done for the purpose of commercial advantage or private financial gain, be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both;

(ii) in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(ii), (iii), (iv), or (v)(II), be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both;

(iii) in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(i), (ii), (iii), (iv), or (v) during and in relation to which the person causes serious bodily injury (as defined in section 1365 of title 18) to, or places in jeopardy the life of, any person, be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both; and.

(iv) in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(i), (ii),

(iii), (iv), or (v) resulting in the death of any person, be punished by death or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, fined under title 18, or both.

that's a sad state of affairs then. Poor old man just had Trump flags on his porch. I am wearing my American flag shorts and my David Dorn shirt out everywhere I go now.

My cops are great. The only cop fucking they deserve is their sexual preference after a night of dancing.

Maybe your shithole is the problem, you know? Judge Dredd is a fantasy. Robocop is a fantasy. The days of "I am the law" are over because they never existed. I'm sorry you dont like cops, but you are right when you say they arent your friends. That's EXACTLY how I want my cops to be. Friends arent impartial. Friends lead to corruption. Hell, the cops in your area probably ARE friends with someone, just not with you, since you dont get the benefits that drug pushers get.

A life preserver is worthless up until it isnt. You can look at the stowed preserver and, with complete honesty, call it a lazy piece of junk that is just a waste of space. That is one way to look at it, but it goes from worthless to life saving when shit hits the fan. Maybe your cops wouldnt act in an emergency, but maybe they would.
