Flower gardens and/or planter boxes. Place them about two feet away from the house, 2 1/2 to 3 feet tall (just enough to come up to the bottom of most of your windows), 3 feet wide, and 8-12 feet long. You can make them out of railroad ties or 2x4 with 4x4 support posts. Fill most of the bottom with cheap fill dirt or preferably sand. Top it off with nice grow dirt/potting soil and plant whatever you want. They are relatively cheap, look super nice so the neighbors don't complain, and they will block pretty much all pistol and most rifle rounds.
Its the best and cheapest way to bullet proof the ground level of your house and nobody is the wiser as to their true purpose since they just look like planter boxes. If you were to get shot at, just get low on the ground floor and you are protected.
