Hell, I hit a few local fun stores this past weekend. I was looking to order a pretty high end Class-III item, and none of them could even take the order as all the distributors were completely out, and had no idea when they would be getting them back in. The stores themselves only had super low-end stuff like Hi-Points or ultra high end stuff ($3k+ 1911's from gucci gear small manufacturers) in stock. Ammo was vapor, and at one shop, they were hanging on to some as they wanted to be able to sell a box or two of ammo with any weapons they sold.
This is kind of nuts, as the item I was looking for isn't exactly high-demand (not a lot of folks looking to spend $3k on an integrally suppressed 9mm "pistol" with a brace). I've never seen the stores so stripped for stock.
Here is the problem for the militant Left. They actually believe they are smarter than ANY Conservative. Thus, how hard is it to work a gun? They have seen TV, so...
Then, when they get it home, all the buttons and knobs don't work. Who do they go to to get advice?
Their friends? None of them know from shit about guns. All of them were too smart to enlist in the Army, and the Marines are just Alt-Right thugs. Navy? They either were electronics, or they just laugh and tell The Left to eat shit and die. There are about four zoomies who learned about guns and their feeding in the service. The rest take this Constitution Thing seriously.
NRA instructors? Yeah, like that will ever happen. NRA are Fascists. So who is going to tell them the what where and how of shooting?
So they wind up watching Youtubes, and get distracted with old Simpsons reruns, I have yet to see a Youtube that says "Guns are LOUD!" and violent, and it's hard to aim one. They get thrown out of local gun ranges for flagging, So the evil thing gets locked in a drawer, until it rusts, because they NEVER oil it, and fondling it or cleaning it is just sick.
I have actually met Leftists who believe that guns come pre-loaded from the store. Aren't bullets sorta like the batteries in a remote?
Just got back from the gun store in Oregon. I'm number 4400 something in line for a background check and was given an estimated wait time of 10-14 days
My wife and I started the process back in April to get a pistol and rifle firearms permit in New Jersey. The on-line application was easy and fairly expedient. The references that we used responded quickly so the process was started withing a couple of weeks to get the background check. This is where it went to shit.
The first thing that needs to happen is for us to get fingerprinted. Can't be done at the local police (small town, great police), so we needed to use the outsourced firm called Identigo. No appoints available anywhere in NJ for months. Bottom line, it took us from April to August to get the permit to buy.
Once we got the permit, it took many days of searching to get the handguns that were close to what we wanted. So now one has been delivered to the FFL, waiting for the second and am concerned about getting ammo. I'm not buying any until the guns are in my hand because I've tried to get three rifles and all have been denied because of NJ cucked laws.
Anecdotally, in my family my children never had guns, got them this year - they never owned guns and never intended. Same with my SIL's father who is the last person you'd ever expect. I have at least three other relative's who also purchased who would never have even considered. They are all Trump supporters and are disgusted about the rioting and looting that have gone unabated.
I'm pretty sure it's normal people who can't believe what is happening to their communities and can't believe the tepid response from law enforcement and especially our justice system.

I tried to convince my family to invest in a firearm or to or even just self-defense classes or even a mace or taser...what good are rights if you can't afford to use them and you'd just be arrested anyways? At least judging from the posts here...
