You all are right! I'm going to go ahead and do it! Just put in my vacation request form in with work for the day off!

You might not need to. Many companies will count volunteering to be a poll worker as community service as they get credit for it and won't make you use a day off.

I know there is a form some people get to take to their HR so they get credit when I did it in the past.

Probably worth looking into at least.
