When I was renting, they wanted to charge me $50 for having a scuffed door.

On top of the $200 per month for the general HOA.

I got a nastygram for having failed to paint the 10" wire from my satellite dish to the side of the house the same color as my house.

Everyone is talking about Karens today. Karens were incubating on the boards of HOA's for decades. They would and will patrol neighborhoods for the express purpose of finding infractions in order to levy passive aggressive "proxy wars" with people they don't like and secretly against people they are envious of but act like they like.

They are some of the most miserable human beings on the planet.

/live in the HOA capital of the world (FL).

Easy fix is to just outlaw HOAs.

Colorado, at least in northern Colorado, is mostly full of them. Good luck finding a house not in an hoa

Yup. People think of the one asshole in every neighborhood as a problem -> vote for more government and less freedom to fix it -> can't escape after the asshole is dealt with.

Huh really. So when the HoA comes crying because your lawn isn't cut to the 1/32" that's cool?

Nah dog

Cities approve developments if the developer funds infrastructure, streets, sewers all that shit

HOA helps pays back that shit.

Shitty homeowner has every right to be that way, property rights are exactly that.

Just don’t do it

Neighbors are overrated. I had the choice 15yrs ago a nice house in town or a shack on 115acres. I chose the land and built the house.

Almost everywhere you go there is undeveloped land for sale. You might have to commute for work.

There are several areas with no non-HOA homes in entire zip codes. Some areas entire cities have became HOAs via appearance ordinances, community standards, etc.
