Where I live if a health inspector finds a person working in a medical environment wearing gloves while not seeing a patient it is a $50,000 fine. You can wear one glove but if you touch any thing with that glove 50k, 2 gloves automatic 50k. Any PPE is assumed to be contaminated, it's why you never see medical personnel using it when they are not directly dealing with a patient. Let one of the inspectors see a doctor touch a mask with his hands and a nuclear powered shit storm is going to descend on that place.

The CDC study is great. It's very recent, and shows masks were ineffective at preventing the flu. So if they don't work for the flu, why would they work for any virus, including the 'rona? And, I believe this was studying mask usage in a medical setting. I'd imagine they'd be even less effective out in the general public since they're nearly impossible to use correctly. Aside from not wearing them right, people are supposed to wash their hands before putting on, before taking off, and any time they touch it. How often do you see that happening out in the wild ;)
Mandatory mask rule is a more of a dress code for conformity. You have to wear a mask just because everybody else does, it's the law of the land, whether it's really beneficial to public health and your own health or not.

It’s a bit of a ‘truism’ since the new cases rate has gone down pretty much everywhere, but she implied that masking is a direct cause.
Which of course is untrue, since widespread masking began after new cases had already started to decline, localized mask mandates or usage doesn’t correlate with localized decreases in spread or overall prevention, and there is no logical causation present to assume any other hidden benefit.
Then she asked if I “got all your information from Qanon and Fox”.

I think that South Dakota had been keeping the masks and lockdowns up to local discretion. As a result, there wasn't any state mandated restrictions like all the other states...but I guess a school could decide to require masks at their private meetings?
In that case, the police would be enforcing trespass laws, technically not a "mask law". (That's how they get you in California.)
South Dakota has a great gun law that says local municipalities can't pass gun ordinances that are any more restrictive than the state laws. They need to do the same with the mask and lockdown rules. It's the only way to keep the oppressive liberal bullshit in check.

I used to donate money to my local cops. I absolutely refuse to support them now. Was just talking about this with someone earlier. It feels like a switch flipped over the weekend and people just decided we're done. People are sick of the stupid masks and the moronic restrictions. Not sure exactly what triggered it, but I'm seeing a lot more people in stores and other places just not wearing them anymore.
Every person without a mask matters. I've yet to be kicked out of a single place (all of them have the mandate signs on the doors). I have personally seen over 10 times where other shoppers see me and immediately take their mask off.
Think about the domino effect that is happening there. We have to take this stupidly small risk to inspire others NOW so we do not have to take much bigger risks out of desperation later (if you catch my drift).

If half the people shopping in any given store didn't wear a mask do you know how much employee time it would take to go up to each one and then to enforce it? Do you know how much strain on the employees it would be to bear that confrontation every day? You realize they would eventually quit instead of having to act as mini-security guards for minimum wage. Do you think a store could stay staffed very long like that? Additionally a minimum wage employee can't be trusted to handle confrontation at high frequency in a way that doesn't put their employer in legal trouble. Etc. All these things lead to the stores stopping the policy.

Oh for sure, there are definitely a lot of differences between the two situations. My apologies if it came across like I was downplaying or belittling those atrocities. On the matter of human judgment and social pressure, etc, there may still be some interesting parallels we can draw. Because, unfortunately, it doesn't seem like having "good excuses" is a prerequisite for mass delusions and societal allowances.
For example, is it entirely possible that Hitler propagandized a certain worldview to the German citizens? Is it possible there were some people who legitimately believed the racial doctrines he was espousing? That some people did convince themselves of superior/inferior races, etc? Whom, over time, developed a "real" and deep-seated aversion to certain peoples? To the point of violence?
If so, in some ways that may not be too dissimilar from people in America buying wholesale the narratives of the media and medical elites commonly cited throughout much of the mainstream media today. When I take a look at what's going on in the streets today, I regularly see the Antifa thugs completely dehumanizing Trump supporters.
(EDIT: On the flip-side, I've also heard there were many in Germany at the time who believed the holocaust was NOT happening, that it was an elaborate foreign disinformation campaign to create distrust, etc. The point being that, in the moment, rarely are things as black and white as they may seem in hindsight.)
Now I may be wrong (it wouldn't be the first time!), but there may be similarities in psychology behind today's extremes and those of Germany in the 30's-40's . Even if the physical outcomes/situations are quite different, maybe a lot can be learned in comparing what goes on "between the ears" of people in response to authority back then vs today?

It's easy to convince ourselves that "they" were stupid and evil for not revolting with every fibre of their beings. But there are compelling studies and observations that indicate we're actually not so different. And that, in the face of "similar" pressures and situations, the wide majority of people generally respond in the same manner. Just go to any public place and watch people for 5 minutes. Seriously go to a gas station and spend 5 minutes counting how many times the cashier touches xirs face mask and then touches peoples purchases to scan it or hands them change.
Where I live if a health inspector finds a person working in a medical environment wearing gloves while not seeing a patient it is a $50,000 fine. You can wear one glove but if you touch any thing with that glove 50k, 2 gloves automatic 50k. Any PPE is assumed to be contaminated, it's why you never see medical personnel using it when they are not directly dealing with a patient. Let one of the inspectors see a doctor touch a mask with his hands and a nuclear powered shit storm is going to descend on that place.

The CDC study is great. It's very recent, and shows masks were ineffective at preventing the flu. So if they don't work for the flu, why would they work for any virus, including the 'rona? And, I believe this was studying mask usage in a medical setting. I'd imagine they'd be even less effective out in the general public since they're nearly impossible to use correctly. Aside from not wearing them right, people are supposed to wash their hands before putting on, before taking off, and any time they touch it. How often do you see that happening out in the wild ;)
Mandatory mask rule is a more of a dress code for conformity. You have to wear a mask just because everybody else does, it's the law of the land, whether it's really beneficial to public health and your own health or not.

I think that South Dakota had been keeping the masks and lockdowns up to local discretion. As a result, there wasn't any state mandated restrictions like all the other states...but I guess a school could decide to require masks at their private meetings?

South Dakota has a great gun law that says local municipalities can't pass gun ordinances that are any more restrictive than the state laws. They need to do the same with the mask and lockdown rules. It's the only way to keep the oppressive liberal bullshit in check.

Was just talking about this with someone earlier. It feels like a switch flipped over the weekend and people just decided we're done. People are sick of the stupid masks and the moronic restrictions. Not sure exactly what triggered it, but I'm seeing a lot more people in stores and other places just not wearing them anymore.
Every person without a mask matters. I've yet to be kicked out of a single place (all of them have the mandate signs on the doors). I have personally seen over 10 times where other shoppers see me and immediately take their mask off.
Think about the domino effect that is happening there. We have to take this stupidly small risk to inspire others NOW so we do not have to take much bigger risks out of desperation later (if you catch my drift).
Remember, while the guy in this video has a big pair even something 10x less manly as this act is needed to ruin their whole mask-fest.
If half the people shopping in any given store didn't wear a mask do you know how much employee time it would take to go up to each one and then to enforce it? Do you know how much strain on the employees it would be to bear that confrontation every day? You realize they would eventually quit instead of having to act as mini-security guards for minimum wage. Do you think a store could stay staffed very long like that? Additionally a minimum wage employee can't be trusted to handle confrontation at high frequency in a way that doesn't put their employer in legal trouble. Etc. All these things lead to the stores stopping the policy.

Oh for sure, there are definitely a lot of differences between the two situations. My apologies if it came across like I was downplaying or belittling those atrocities. On the matter of human judgment and social pressure, etc, there may still be some interesting parallels we can draw. Because, unfortunately, it doesn't seem like having "good excuses" is a prerequisite for mass delusions and societal allowances.
For example, is it entirely possible that Hitler propagandized a certain worldview to the German citizens? Is it possible there were some people who legitimately believed the racial doctrines he was espousing? That some people did convince themselves of superior/inferior races, etc? Whom, over time, developed a "real" and deep-seated aversion to certain peoples? To the point of violence?
If so, in some ways that may not be too dissimilar from people in America buying wholesale the narratives of the media and medical elites commonly cited throughout much of the mainstream media today. When I take a look at what's going on in the streets today, I regularly see the Antifa thugs completely dehumanizing Trump supporters.
(EDIT: On the flip-side, I've also heard there were many in Germany at the time who believed the holocaust was NOT happening, that it was an elaborate foreign disinformation campaign to create distrust, etc. The point being that, in the moment, rarely are things as black and white as they may seem in hindsight.)
Now I may be wrong (it wouldn't be the first time!), but there may be similarities in psychology behind today's extremes and those of Germany in the 30's-40's . Even if the physical outcomes/situations are quite different, maybe a lot can be learned in comparing what goes on "between the ears" of people in response to authority back then vs today?

It's easy to convince ourselves that "they" were stupid and evil for not revolting with every fibre of their beings. But there are compelling studies and observations that indicate we're actually not so different. And that, in the face of "similar" pressures and situations, the wide majority of people generally respond in the same manner. The percentage of people that actively swim against the tide when their lives and livelihoods are on the line are exceedingly rare throughout the whole of history.
