There is a LONG history between the Catholic Church and the freemasons going back to the mason's inception. The masonic ideals are based off of the equality of all religions, which is obviously in contradiction to Catholic teachings (and why a mason is in a state of grave sin and cannot receive communion). So with the Church as their natural enemy, the masons purposefully and deliberately infiltrated the seminaries, schools, and leadership of the Catholic Church to destroy it from within.
They are drawn to the ritual of it. My great grandfather was a knight templar and they were into some bizarre things. I was in possession of his sword for awhile, it creeped me out, had the skull and bones on it name embossed in gold on the blade and everything with a little chain guard. I used to think they were just another fraternity but it goes a lot deeper, like insurance companies, banks, and such.
