Regardless of how you feel about him, Barr will play it safe until after the election. He's been in the swamp long enough to know not to rock the boat when there's even a remote chance you will have a different boss come January 2021.
The 16 cabinet members always go out when a new president comes in. It was other, less important appointees that Obama canned out of pettiness. Bush canned a bunch of them but Clinton was famous for it. It was Clinton’s first scandal while in office.

I believe you're correct, but Barr could prove to be even swampier than imagined and manage to stay on. Only time will tell.
